“Fun playground -- very expansive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Some paved trails were nice + liked the swings/playground. Natural museum was very close and assessable. We did a few geo caching in the area as well. Very relaxed environment and while we did not do so, it appeared that it was bike friendly. We went on a Saturday and it seemed very safe.

“Beautiful Day in a Beautiful Park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

What a great park!! It was suggeested to us for a quick something to do on an afternoon. We spent more time than expected. Great playground. Interesting brook. Nice pond to walk around on a sidewalk. Comfortable gravel trails for short hike. Don't miss the nature center. The nature center is for preschool through elementary age children. There were many hands-on exhibits and easily takes 1 - 2 hours. Admission charge was worth it but be prepared to pay. The location is not clearly marked but you will find it if looking for it. Just a short walk over a bridge on the end of the pond away from the playground. Have fun! I will return to this park next time I visit Charlotte.

“Beautiful Park in the center of city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

This is a must see if visiting the city. Freedom Park is a great spot to begin a ride using the Charlotte Cycle share program. The bikeways leads almost to the city center, which can be reached via a few city roads. Great spot to run or just enjoy the outdoors.

“Great park with lots of things to do!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

Great park to visit, especially when festivals are going on. Playgrounds, swings, fun things to do! PLEASE someone restore Steam Locomotive No. 301, located next to the playground and parking area, which badly needs a paint job and has been slowly sinking into the Carolina mud since being placed there in 1959. She really belongs in a museum where she can be seen up close and protected from the weather and vandals!

“Natural Beauty in the Park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

This park is so beautiful, any time of the year. You can walk, run or bike around the lake, visit the Nature Museum nearby or take the greenway next to the creek. And now with the Charlotte Cycle Program you can rent a bike at the park. How convient. It is great for taking pictures of the flowers and ducks. Young children can fish in the lake, too.
