Some co -workers and I stayed here for a weekend class. The rooms were great! Clean and comfy! Everything we could have asked for in a home away from home. The bed was probably one of the most comfortable I have slept in - as far as a chain hotel goes. The maid even left me and extra bottle of shampoo - even though I could have used what was left in the old bottle. The fan in the bedroom was a big plus. I always sleep with fan on at home - so this made it just right!

Breakfast was very good both morning. The only complaint was tht on sat morning - I guess they were running a little late. So we didn't get to enjoy the full breakfast - due to our class being at 8:00. There really wasn't a lot of choices - if you wanted to run out and grab something to eat near the hotel. But we made do.... They did have a little shop - in case you had a sweet tooth or forgot some things. I ended up heading down there for some GOODY powders and some tums. Big plus to have that there...

The only advice I have is - ask for a room that is not facing the airport. ( Not facing the pool if you are on the right side. ) I heard airplanes all night long. ( Yes - I am a light sleeper!! ) But my co-workers who were on the other side of the hall - couldn't hear them. Just a little advice.

Other than that - we couldn't have asked for a nice place!

  • Liked — The comforts and feel of home
  • Disliked — The noise from the airplanes

I have stayed in this hotel before and everything is usually excellent and I have always enjoyed my stays. The staff has always been wonderful and friendly and very efficient and they were this time as well. The only problem I had this time was after I climbed into bed and tried to fall asleep I began to cough and cough and cough all night long and found that I must have been allergic to the pillows or the comforter in the bed. The coughing would stop as soon as I got up from the bed and moved to the other room. So perhaps they have changed the comforters to feather or down? If you have allergies, maybe you need to request foam pillows? Otherwise, the hotel is very nice. The shuttle service to the airport is great and they even took me at a time when the shuttle was not normally scheduled.

  • Liked — Two Rooms, Near Airport, Can leave your car there
  • Disliked — Pillows and Comforters provoked asthma and allergies

We (me, my husband, and 4 kids) stayed at the Homewood Suites for 2 nights in July 2008.

The king bedroom suite was clean and comfortable. The king bed slept well. The ceiling fan is a nice touch I appreciate. The couch in the living room folded out into a double bed, which slept 3 of the kids, and we brought some sleeping bags. After pulling out the couch bed, there was still room on the floor for the sleeping bags.

The kitchen area has a full-size refrigerator, microwave, stovetop, toaster, and sink. We did not cook in the room, so I cannot comment as to how well the kitchen was stocked.

The first night, there were no pillows supplied for the sofabed. We called the front desk, but they were out of pillows. We did get a few delivered after another call for the second night.

Although it was hot in the middle of the summer, the pool is in a courtyard and was too cold for the kids to enjoy.

The free breakfast including both hot and cold items, but the staff did not do a good job of keeping it stocked. Also, trays would be nice for parents taking food up to kids in the room.

Parking is free and there is a free airport shuttle. It is also a short 10 minute drive to downtown Charlotte.

Overall, this hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and even went above in delivering a left item to our house. However, the rating is only average because of the cold pool and problems with breakfast.

  • Liked — Spacious room
  • Disliked — breakfast needs to be stocked, pool was too cold

This hotel is located in a business area not far from the interstate or Charlotte Douglas Airport. Outside you could hear the frequent airplane roar but that was no issue inside. The property is very nice and typical for a Homewood. However in addition to the typical outdoor
pool it also had a putting green. Room was typical Homewood Suite, well kept and nicely furnished. Homewood has a free breakfast which is
top rate, not made to order like Embassy but more furnished than a typical Hampton. We also got a great weekend rate. Generally you can't
go wrong with Homewoods and this one is no exception.

We booked this hotel as part of a race package for the Coca Cola 600 over Memorial Day weekend.

In general, the property was clean and neat. The front desk personnel were polite and friendly. The food staff did a pretty good job at breakfast but we had to ask for replenishments of coffee and some of the foods each time.

The hotel seems to be undergoing a renovation, judging from the construction materials in the parking lot.

Our room had some deficiencies, which we brought to the attention of the front desk. They were not remedied. The room was missing a TV remote (it had two TVs). The icemaker was lacking a bin for ice so we couldn't have ice in the room. I didn't find any cooking pans so the stove was useless.

Last, of the five pillows, three smelled musty and had a disagreeable odor. This is first time I've encountered such a problem and it was a bit of a gross out, wondering how the pillows got that way. The housekeeping staff need to perform the sniff test occasionally.

We were placed in Room 102, which was right next to an exit. It got noisy when guests were arriving and departing. I would recommend requesting a room farther way. Also, the hotel is under the flight path of the airport and although the noise wasn't that bad, it is noticeable.

  • Liked — Roominess of the room and the breakfasts
  • Disliked — Missing pieces and smelly pillows
