If you are going to this hotel for girls/guys night/weekend out, then this might be the hotel for you. Upscale, luxurious right smack in the middle of the action of downtown Charlotte. Although you dont get what you dont pay for, you should expect that at a facility like this one. My original plan was to go to spa weekend with my best friend but plans changed and I ended up going with my hubby and kids. Our room was right across from a club that was sort of outdoors. The music and noise was so bad for anyone going to bed before 2am who happened to be on that side of the hotel. I called once to complain about the 'noise' the first day in a room below and the hotel took care of it right away. But the noise from the club, i knew they could do nothing about it. Day two, I prepared a little for the noise and just made sure our day lasted longer. Noise was worse than ever that night and apparently the new hotel guests next door was having some sort of crazy party that lasted to the wee hours of Saturday and thru to Sunday early morning. I did complain about that noise Sunday am cause i was fed up. Although the hotel said it would send security to the room, the noise kept on for at least another hour. By that time we were on our way out of there. My reviews are usually more to the point and descriptive of the room, area, service, etc. But its hard for me to talk about that stuff much since the noise was a huge issue for me. However for the price of the room, which was really good for the value otherwise, if you are looking for a party and upscale and dont mind paying for the additives, this hotel is for you. If you are looking for peace and quite, you may want to go elsewhere.

We appreciate you taking the time to review our hotel. We regret that we were not able to provide you with the quiet weekend that you were anticipating. Although we are very fortunate to have a great downtown location in such close proximity to the new Epicentre we are just now realizing the effects that the outdoor entertainment areas are having on our guests. We are working closely with this facility to find a way to reduce the noise and are confident that we are nearing a solution. We hope that you have the opportunity to return and we would encourage you or any future guests that may have concerns with the noise to please let us know so that we can place you in a quiet area of the hotel.

After having a bit of trouble with the parking we got inside. The parking situation was a bit confusing. Valet parking was $18/ day there. If I was staying longer , maybe I would have had that to avoid self-parking. The spaces were also small.

Anyway, once inside we saw it was a really nice lobby and the front desk people were really friendly and had all the answers to out questions. There was a nice looking bar in the lobby also, they also had a Starbucks which wasn't open on the weekends I'm guessing. A minor negative.

We had a king room with a view of the surrounding buildings. The bathroom had the standard soap, conditioner, shower cap, etc. It wasn't huge, but not too small either. Water pressure in the shower kinda sucked though, but still it wasn't bad. The beds were really comfy, but they had a lot of covers on them, after getting under them it felt like 30 lbs of cover on top.

There was some kind of party going on in the meeting rooms, people milled about dressed up and later I heard the music from in there. Its kind of cool that they aren't all fussy about the noise. Usually in the nicer hotels such as this, they're kind of strict on noise.

After we got settled in, we decided to go have dinner and instead of getting back in the car and driving about, we walked downstairs and over to the EpiCentre. The Omni is really located in a great place. Its within walking distance to a lot of nightlife and restaurants. We ended up eating at the EpiCentre and going to one of the bars/clubs there. It was raining and we walked above the road on the skywalks to the EpiCentre and didn't really get wet. Its literally a 5 minute walk!

The walls seem a little thin, cause we could hear a few guys being rowdy after we got in, but it wasn't bothersome.

Check-out was a breeze. They have the express checkout but we dropped the keys off at the front desk since we had to pass it anyway.

The location of this hotel was excellent, centrally located to everything. The rooms were very clean. The beds, however, were extremely uncomfortable. The matresses were really stiff and I didn't get much sleep at all. Bathrooms are also very tiny. And the gaps at the bottom of the doors, could pose a noise problem if you happen to have to stay on a busy floor. But the hotel, being an Omni, is very upscale and elegant, with beautiful decor.

The Omni was an amazing hotel, every amenity you could think of is included. It's situated right in downtown Charlotte and everything is easily accessible by foot. The room was very spacious, comfortable and luxurious. The bed was the softest I think I've ever slept in! The only bad experience was that upon checking in, I had to present a credit card (not debit) and was 'temporarily' charged $300 for incidentals (I guess this is for the mini bottle of wine and M&Ms in the mini bar). Other than that, my experience was great!

Thank you for sharing your great experience at the Omni Charlotte on TripAdvisor. Like most hotels we do authorize the credit cards of our guests upon their arrival to cover the cost of their stay and potential incidentals but it is only an authorization and nothing is actually charged to your card unless a service is provided. Otherwise it sounds like you had a wonderful stay with us and we hope that you will be returning soon.

My wife and I stayed here over a weekend in January. We booked a junior suite at a price of $165.00 nite. The room was really terrific. It was large and triangular shaped with windows going down both sides affording a spectacular, panoramic view ot the city. A nice sitting area with a couch, chair and table, along with a work desk in the far end of the room. The bed was very comfortable, and everything in the hotel was very clean.

The best asset of this hotel is the staff. Everyone, from the valet, front desk, housekeeping, and room service, could not have been more pleasant and all worked hard to acommodate our needs.

Criticisms: Bathrooms are small, TVs need updating. On the weekends, all retail shops are closed in the city. The shops that are connected to the hotel are also all closed on the weekend. Particularly the Starbucks on the bottom floor. There is no close place to get coffee in the a.m unless you make it in your room or order from the restaurant. Omni should seriously provide complimentary coffee in the lobby, as do many hotels. Other than these minor complaints......the night life for food and drink near the hotel are numerous and very good.

We would gladly stay here again, primarily for the excellent service.

  • Liked — The View and unique size and shape of the room.
  • Disliked — Small bathrooms, old style TVs
