We stayed at the Omni the nights of December 28th and 29th, in order to go to the Meineke Car Care Bowl. The hotel was extremely lavish and comfortable.
The building is centrally located in Charlotte-and, as Charlotte isn't exactly the biggest city in the world it is a relatively easy walk to any attraction (for example, the Bank of America stadium was only a 15 minute walk).
The lobby is...nice. It's somewhat oddly shaped, with the front desk and the (very small) concierge desk located in an area next to the bar, while if you go down an escalator you get to the "mall" area-this houses a convenience store, as well as some other interesting shops.
Now, for the rooms. This is the one spot where the hotel truly shined. The beds were AMAZING, and the room was extremely spacious (with the exception of the bathroom). Our travel partners stayed in a room marketed as a "mini suite", and their room was not much bigger than ours-imagine the size of a decent sized kitchen table that only housed a pull-out couch.
We LOVED the fact that they gave us chocolates on the beds each night, as that was a nice treat after such a long day. The first night, they just gave us little packages of chocolate mints. The second and final night, however, they gave us this extravagant Godiva chocolate box (interestingly enough, they left the price tag on it-$15.50).
The TV's have the ONCOMMAND movie software, so you can order movies directly to your hotel room (albeit at a higher price). As well, the alarm clocks have MP3-in jacks, so you can plug in your iPod to listen.
It's probably common sense-but don't bother spending money on the in-room bar. The candy bars were extremely expensive. Also, they put out an Evian bottle, but then have a tag on it that says that if you open it, they'll charge 6 dollars to your hotel room!
Now, are you guys ready for the drawback (which may not bother some people)? The pool is outdoor, and is DISGUSTING! It looked as if it had not been cleaned in a long time, and it wasn't even particularly large-i'll just swim in the bathtub in the room!).
If you're interested, the exercise room was...just that. Not big, not tiny, but a decent room with a couple of machines.
All the people that worked at the hotel were very nice and welcoming. In all, I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone, and I would stay here again in the future.
