This hotel is a crapshoot. I've stayed here before and the room was nice. This time I was stuck in Charlotte and needed a place. The Omni is very convenient to BoA. I called the front desk to see if I could get a room. It turns out that they cannot tell you if they have any rooms - you have to call the 800 number. I've had hotels tell me that you have to call the 800 number to book a room before but never to tell me if they have one and I can walk over. I've stayed here before. Some rooms are nice. This room was not. If you stay here make sure that you are high up - at least the 5th floor and if at all possible that your windows do not face BoA. If you are lower or face BoA you will hear sirens and buses all night long because the windows and walls are not well insulated. This place survives because of its location. It it was anywhere else in the city ot would have been bull-dozed by now.

We stayed at the Omni the nights of December 28th and 29th, in order to go to the Meineke Car Care Bowl. The hotel was extremely lavish and comfortable.

The building is centrally located in Charlotte-and, as Charlotte isn't exactly the biggest city in the world it is a relatively easy walk to any attraction (for example, the Bank of America stadium was only a 15 minute walk).

The lobby is...nice. It's somewhat oddly shaped, with the front desk and the (very small) concierge desk located in an area next to the bar, while if you go down an escalator you get to the "mall" area-this houses a convenience store, as well as some other interesting shops.

Now, for the rooms. This is the one spot where the hotel truly shined. The beds were AMAZING, and the room was extremely spacious (with the exception of the bathroom). Our travel partners stayed in a room marketed as a "mini suite", and their room was not much bigger than ours-imagine the size of a decent sized kitchen table that only housed a pull-out couch.

We LOVED the fact that they gave us chocolates on the beds each night, as that was a nice treat after such a long day. The first night, they just gave us little packages of chocolate mints. The second and final night, however, they gave us this extravagant Godiva chocolate box (interestingly enough, they left the price tag on it-$15.50).

The TV's have the ONCOMMAND movie software, so you can order movies directly to your hotel room (albeit at a higher price). As well, the alarm clocks have MP3-in jacks, so you can plug in your iPod to listen.

It's probably common sense-but don't bother spending money on the in-room bar. The candy bars were extremely expensive. Also, they put out an Evian bottle, but then have a tag on it that says that if you open it, they'll charge 6 dollars to your hotel room!

Now, are you guys ready for the drawback (which may not bother some people)? The pool is outdoor, and is DISGUSTING! It looked as if it had not been cleaned in a long time, and it wasn't even particularly large-i'll just swim in the bathtub in the room!).
If you're interested, the exercise room was...just that. Not big, not tiny, but a decent room with a couple of machines.

All the people that worked at the hotel were very nice and welcoming. In all, I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone, and I would stay here again in the future.

Ok. Some great stuff first 1) great location "uptown" 2) very comfy bed, linens and awesome black out shades for those that like it very dark 3) valet is a cheap 8.00 per day 4) room rates were acceptable for being in prime location 5) great room service from food to extra towels-great job Corey! 6) Food is above average for hotel food and is not overly priced, there is room service 24 hours. If you want to be within walking distance to uptown/downtown/sports arena, etc this is great place. Plenty of stuff withing walking distance.

Minor issues: Hotel room key stopped working twice and the elevators take keys to work (inconvienent). This was a hassle when i had to schlepp back to front desk twice to get me new keys. Bathrooms are way too small for a hotel this nice. 4 star room with a 1 star bathroom. Staff is a mixed bag. Some were GREAT. Kudos to Patrick and Corey and Charles. Others were snippy. I guess this is anywhere you stay though.

Big problem: They have an awful business center. Their internet access is very expensive and does not work 1/2 the time. They require a credit card and they charge it 6.95 for 15 minutes of use. Yikes!!!! Then the computers kept logging off but kept charging me and i spent over 30.00 trying to send an email. Why would a 4 star hotel have such crappy service?? I complained to the front desk and all they did was take my credit card info and said they would reimburse later?? I asked if it could be taken off my room bill and they said no. I never did get Internet access but they let me quickly use the one behind the front desk. If you need to do business and need a printer, fax, Internet, etc do not stay here. Also, there is a great attached shopping mall and Starbucks to this hotel but they are closed on weekends. Again, weird. I am from Los Angeles and nothing closes. Staff said in NC stores are closed on Sat and Sun.

I would have really loved this hotel had i not had these Internet issues. This is very important to me. I need technology when i travel. I still do not know a final total of my Internet fees as they could not tell them. Omni staff claims they are not responsible for thier onsite business center. BS.

I travel often to Charlotte on business as my employer is headquartered here. After hearing so many glowing comments by others who'd stayed here, I was very excited to book a room in this hotel. Well, that excitement wore off as soon as I entered the front lobby. When I checked in there was a problem with the reservation; my corporate card was not on file. Once that was straightened out, I was left to drag my luggage to the elevator and up to my room. No bellman in sight--the staff at the front desk was too busy checking in other guests.

When I entered the room, I noticed that it was freezing in there, so I turned up the heat. I then entered the bathroom--a dirty towel was on the floor. I called to complain and was told someone would be by to replace it. I waited an hour. Nobody came.

I decided to turn on the TV and settle onto the bed while waiting. Then I discovered the pillowcases and bedspread had holes in them and the spread was worn with fuzzies on it. Further, I discovered stains on the sheets. Again I called to complain. A snippy front desk representative told me they'd been informed of the problems in the room and someone would be by to change the linens and towels.

When someone finally arrived, it was a housekeeper who spoke no English, so she could not understand what I needed. She just went in and changed the entire bed and cleaned the entire bathroom. I really just needed the bed changed and fresh towels, but oh well.

On to the food...very expensive, even at corporate rates! Room service was extremely slow--over an hour's wait for just a salad and appetizer. Once it finally arrived, the waitperson went right into my room after I opened the door, and proceeded to set the tray down on the bed. I did not want this person in the room uninvited--I am very private that way--and further I didn't want to eat in the bed!

I set the tray outside the door after I finished. In the morning, I opened my door to receive my complimentary USA Today. It wasn't there--but my tray from the previous night still was.

This place brags about its reputation as a star quality hotel, but I have stayed in many hotels in Charlotte, and this one is just not up to par. I won't stay here again.

My husband and I enjoyed a weekend in Charlotte recently.
The Omni is a great location - the downtown area has a lot to see and do as far as restaurants and entertainment.
We had a lovely room on the 12th floor - I did not find the bathroom to be small as some have mentioned. The staff were very helpful from the front desk to the door men. We parked our car there and although the garage was a bit confusing - we figured it out. A must go to is the Irish Bar - RiRah's.

We did not eat any meals at the hotel - it was very smoky in the lobby. There was a Starbucks in the lower level of the hotel.

As we had a car we were able to travel to Concord to the Lowe's Motor Speedway. Even though I am not a Nascar fanatic, the tour was very interesting to see what is on the track and to take a ride on the track. We also went to the Childress Vineyards (located 1 hour 15 min. north of Charlotte) We enjoyed a nice Sunday brunch there along with a wine tasting.

All in all, I would stay at the Omni again in the future!
