We were in Charlotte for my grandbaby to have outpatient surgery at Levine Children's Hospital. We were given a reduced room rate by the hotel. Also, our family was shuttled to and from the hospital in the hotel shuttle van. This alleviated a huge amount of stress - we did not have to worry about finding the hospital, parking, etc.
Our rooms were very nice and the staff were very polite and accomodating. The warm cookies in the afternoon didn't hurt either.

Most of this review is positive. The front desk folks were consistently personable. My room was large enough. Very quiet. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom - not great, but not bad either. I prefer a separate shower, but at this price, at least the shower curtain bowed out from the tub an was transparent at eye level - a nice feature. After searching for and finding public radio I returned to my room at the end of the day and found it tuned to a Spanish language station. How did that happen? The breakfast in included and OK. Nothing wonderful. The neighborhood is mainly a construction area. The main street in Charlotte is about a 10 minute walk through parking lots and concrete. So nothing charming about it. The main negative was that the courtesy bus took forever and at least one of the drivers seemed not to be able to read street signs. We gave a clear street address about 5-7 minutes from the hotel for a pick up and when we called 20+ minutes later to ask for an ETA we were asked "what kind of building is it? What is close by?" The building had a big sign out front with the address on it. Very strange and frustrating. We ended up waiting over 30 minutes 3 times, Oh yes - internet access was free.

We really don't have any complaints about the Hampton.

Checkin
No problem and they let a friend get into my room early so he could change before his room was ready. Everyone was very pleasant at the front desk.

Room
Not huge but there was enough room for the 4 of us in there.

TV
It was a bit old and the color was a bit off.

Bed
This was really a fantastic bed. I slept like a log.

Bathroom
Again no problems. The did forget the lotion so I had to get some from house keeping as I passed.

Parking
They had a few floors of the parking deck. I noticed when I was leaving Sunday morning there were cars parked all over the place so I guess the run of of spaces fast.

Breakfast
Regular Hampton breakfast. It was busy and they kept it stocked as fast as they could.

Shuttle
They have a local shuttle. Helpful if you catch it but if not you really don't know when its going to be back.

Front desk
Everyone was very helpful and friendly at the desk. I had a few questions and they were very helpful.

Pool
They had a n indoor pool with hot tub. I didn't check it out.

Overall
I'd be happy to stay here again. Its close enough to downtown to head out from there. We walked back with no problem but I really don't know if that was a bad idea or not.

I come to Charlotte often for various reasons, and I always choose the Hampton Inn Uptown Charlotte. Every experience I have is pleasant, and the staff is always quicky to fix any problems you may have. Hampton is a great brand, but this hotel definitely takes it up a notch. The pics they have on the site are a little outdated, so I am adding some of my own from my stays.
