“Very good Pad Thai!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2013

We started with Fresh Basil Rolls. They were kind bland alone, but very good with the cabbage and the pepper sauce that accompany them. We both had Pad Thai and it was very good. We loved that they can bring you a spice tray so you can add as much spice as you like, because the original dish was not hot enough for us. The service was excellent. Coconut ice cream was delish. Tables are a bit close together and would be very loud if it was crowded. We will definitely return the next time we want Thai food.

“Just fine......nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

I've seen the term "upscale" used to describe this place but its really just a regular Thai place. The menu is fairly traditional without any surprises. The food is fine but not great. The staff is functional but not savvy or particularly well informed about the menu, steps of service or wine service. ( the wine glasses are poor quality and design) stick with beer or some of their specialty drinks. The interior is quite nice which is what gives it its upscale moniker but the restaurant itself is just ordinary. If you need a Thai fix it's than its an ok choice.

“Good lunch spot, average food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013 via mobile

We stopped in for lunch during the week. The place was busy but we were seated right away. Service was on the slower side and a bit disjointed though friendly. I ordered the tofu and cashew stir fry which was tasty but not "Thai hot" as I had asked. My wife's masaman curry was overly sweet and loaded with cinnamon. It could have been dessert.

I would consider going back but there are probably better choices available in downtown.

“Outstanding!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013

I was looking for a lunch place close to my hotel and stumbled upon Basil Thai Cuisine. I was by myself so I sat at the bar for immediate seating. I was not disappointed! I had the Pad See-Eu and it was delicious! The service was fast and efficient! This is a definite favorite in Charlotte!

“Upscale without being pricey.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

Since this was our first visit, we asked lots of questions. Our waiter was very helpful with our drink selections & was right on the money with his wine suggestion. Chicken Satay was WONDERFUL! We had 4 different entrees & they were all great. We were seated in the bar area, & the window seats were a little odd - high, padded bench seats against the window with high bar-stool type chairs on the aisle. Not very comfortable for the short-legged people in our party. BUT, we will definitely go back on our next visit to Charlotte.
