“Super Thai!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2011

We had a wonderful Thai meal, prepared as we requested. Three generations (including younger children) all loved the dinner we had there, and the service was excellent.

“Asian Gem in Center City”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2011

Basil Thai Restaurant is a cozy, urban, upscale restaurant in Uptown Charlotte. Pricing is fair and well below it's nearby high-end neighbors (e.g. Capital Grille is practically next door). However, the service is impeccable, the food is spot-on, and the vibe is typically wonderful. Not a dive, not a buffet, not an overwhelming menu, not a poor excuse for a Thai Restaurant. Highly recommended. Tip: Valet parking right out front...use it since parking is difficult in Charlotte and the girls can wear their heels. They'll love you for it!

“I don't give a lot of 5 ratings, but they earned it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2011

Visited on 10/29/11 after reading reviews here and they lived up to their high rating. I was even on the lookout for flaws in service due to earlier comments. Four different service staff waited on us, and each was prompt, courteous and friendly. Drinks were refilled without having to flag someone down and ask. The Coconut Chicken soup $10 was marvelously presented in a flaming container, and the taste was a delicate blend of flavors, wonderfully balanced between chicken, cilantro, a touch of basil, onion and the coconut base. Next was Pad Thai $16 and it too was fantastic. We asked for medium heat and it was pefect for our taste. Four nice large shrimp, chicken, noodles perfectly done, not sticky/soggy. Finished with fried green tea ice cream $6. This is a novelty item, and I probably wouldn't get it again, but I can't knock them a point for it since everything else was top notch. I'll bet the key lime pie would have been a better choice. The location is central to the uptown area. The decor is too modern to my taste, but I guess it's "trendy." Who cares? With such fantastic food and service at reasonable prices (for a big city setting), you gotta try this place!
