Just get a Salted Carmel Brownie and a cup of coffee. You can't go wrong with that!

“Downtown location a little oasis from the bustle”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2012

The Tryon Street location is a good local alternative to the ubiquitous Starbucks. It is tiny inside with a few outdoor tables, but nicely decorated along the French theme. They have the usual selection of coffee drinks and then some - I have never seen the French press option served at a table before now. Their hot chocolate is very nice with a distinctive vanilla flavor to it. They have a selection of pastries as well as a refrigerator case of tempting breakfast and lunch options: yogurt with granola, Boylen sodas, gourmet sandwiches on croissants.

The two times we've been, we've ordered drinks and then helped ourselves to one of the games on a bookshelf to play while we drank. Today, there was one poor barista by himself, trying to cope with the opening rush, and since we were all patient he worked as fast as he could while still producing excellent beverages.

Definitely look for this little cafe for breakfast, lunch or simply a drink when you're in town. Its signage is a little harder to spot if you're not paying attention - it's on the corner of South Tryon and West Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

“Don't Miss This!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2012

Locals come here night and day - it's open 24 hours. Wine, sandwiches, coffee, tea, and the most amazing pastries outside of France. Wifi too! A lot of local groups meet here, and enjoy the comfy chairs and art on the walls. If you visit Charlotte, this is a must see!
