They let people in that are rude and crude. They don't seem to police the actions of the transient residents. These people have parties with several dozen people and are loud. Due to these people my wife didn't feel safe at night. We cut our stay there short and moved on.

When these people move on the place seems like it would be nice.

Working in area for a few months. No break in daily rate for monthly stay. None at all. $875/mo. Are you kidding? Ongoing construction. When asked when it will be finished. The answer is always 2 weeks. The campground has rules that are ignored. Feels like camping in a parking lot with all the extra vehicles everywhere. Leave your unit for an hour, there will not be a place to park when you get back, someone will have a truck on your site. Seems to be no limit to the number of visitors who can come and party on a lot. 30-40 people drinking and screaming at children running loose. At night I make people move their trucks off my lot. In the morning I clean up the trash they left. Park is a Getto neighborhood. They say there is internet but it is not a strong enough signal for usage from a campsite. This is a beautiful campground overrun by trash. Lock up your unit !!!!!!

We have stayed at Camp Wilderness 4-5 times over the past 10 years, the last time prior to this being 2011. Almost everything we remembered and enjoyed most about it is now gone, and what was a really nice, far above average campground is now just (barely) average. Probably explains the extremely low occupancy rate on the tent and popup sites on a holiday weekend -- that used to be nearly full.

The camp sites are fine, are of a decent size, and have power and water hookups. Just make sure you have a site with a dump sink if you need a place to wash dishes. We didn't realize until after setting up that ours did not, so we carried our stuff to a vacant site.

There used to be a nice playground for younger children next to the office. Gone. There was also a mini golf course. Gone. Volleyball net on the lawn. Gone. Bubble hockey in the office. Gone. They do have a pool table, air hockey and tiny foosball table, along with a Pac Man/Galaga video game.

We were really disappointed in the decline of Camp Wilderness, and likely won't be back.

Don't make our mistake and pull into the entrance for the amusement park...that's not what you want ;)
Follow the road around as it runs alongside the park and continue until you come to the wooden coaster, the road you want is near here.
We were here in the off-season for a few days and while there were other campers, the size of the place makes it feel almost empty. Easy check-in. The paved site was level, shaded, and the hook-ups worked fine. There was plenty of length for our 40' plus tow car. A table and charcoal grill were provided. Wifi was average. Trash dumpsters were a short walk away. Sleep quality was average due to large jets...the park seemed to be in a flight path of the airport. The campground thoughtfully provided directions to a Target and a Publix among other places. We liked the location for visiting Charlotte. The pool seemed to be of large size but was covered for the off-season. We would stay here again off-season.

We had a great time. The campground hosts were so nice. Our spot was very large and level and extremely easy to get into. The shuttle back and forth to the park was awesome. Looking forward to coming again next year!

We camped for Scarowinds. There were very few camp sites occupied. The bathrooms were very clean and the front office staff very friendly. They have a wonderful lodge with TV, pool table, and video games. Corn hole was free. They also have a very big pool, but it was closed in October. The campsites were spacious and well maintained. The only downside is that the tent sites are right next to the park and you hear the roller coasters and screams till midnight.

We have a travel trailer so we stayed in the RV area for our Carowinds trip. The staff was nice. The park was nice. The bath houses were clean, just wish there was more of them closer to RV parking. They could use a update but over all a clean place! We had lots of fun!
