“Quiet off-season”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2014

Don't make our mistake and pull into the entrance for the amusement park...that's not what you want ;)
Follow the road around as it runs alongside the park and continue until you come to the wooden coaster, the road you want is near here.
We were here in the off-season for a few days and while there were other campers, the size of the place makes it feel almost empty. Easy check-in. The paved site was level, shaded, and the hook-ups worked fine. There was plenty of length for our 40' plus tow car. A table and charcoal grill were provided. Wifi was average. Trash dumpsters were a short walk away. Sleep quality was average due to large jets...the park seemed to be in a flight path of the airport. The campground thoughtfully provided directions to a Target and a Publix among other places. We liked the location for visiting Charlotte. The pool seemed to be of large size but was covered for the off-season. We would stay here again off-season.

We had a great time. The campground hosts were so nice. Our spot was very large and level and extremely easy to get into. The shuttle back and forth to the park was awesome. Looking forward to coming again next year!

We camped for Scarowinds. There were very few camp sites occupied. The bathrooms were very clean and the front office staff very friendly. They have a wonderful lodge with TV, pool table, and video games. Corn hole was free. They also have a very big pool, but it was closed in October. The campsites were spacious and well maintained. The only downside is that the tent sites are right next to the park and you hear the roller coasters and screams till midnight.

We have a travel trailer so we stayed in the RV area for our Carowinds trip. The staff was nice. The park was nice. The bath houses were clean, just wish there was more of them closer to RV parking. They could use a update but over all a clean place! We had lots of fun!

We love the outdoors and decided to stay in a cabin following our visit to Carowinds. Mistake. The cabin (#11) was cute and the porch swing was the highlight. The inside was worn and a bit dirty. The mattresses, if you must call them that, are miserably uncomfortable. Tried to sleep on the futon and woke up with some kind of bugs that looked like "stink bugs". While I am aware we were in a rustic cabin, we are not accustomed to sleeping with bugs. Further inspection revealed lots of these bugs. Gross. For the money we spent on this cabin, we should not be waking up with bugs. We told the clerk upon departure and she really didn't seem to care. Stay elsewhere.

This was our second stay at Camp Wilderness and we enjoyed it as much as the first. The cabins are decent size with a dishwasher, stovetop, frig and even a little silverware, plates and pans. The charcoal grill is right outside the door off the porch beside the picnic table. The porch swing also gives extra setting room and a great way to relax while the kids play. We stayed in #12 this time because it had a few good trees to hang a hammock from. The Trading Post which offers a small store, 1 pool table and a few board games is a very short walk across the grass. We did also go in July and enjoy the fireworks that can be seen from the pool area. There are many hookups for a camper which we saw others enjoying and thought we might try next time we stay. We came with the kids but it would also be a nice getaway for a couple. This is a great value in comparing with the surrounding hotels and the service has been great both times.

Two night stay with kids. Site was a little dirty and no fire rings but we leveled ok and the charcoal grill on site was nice to have. Great proximity to Carowinds. Free shuttle that does not run by schedule although they post one so be sure to ask inside lodge. Very limited supplies in lodge. Overall good experience
