This hotel is within a business park so the location is out of the way. Not much around in terms of resturants & shops. The hotel does provide frequent shuttle service. The rooms were a true suite set up ( I think this use to be an Embassy Suites). Large bathrooms. Comfortable bed. Nice flat screen TV. Everything was super clean. All hotel employees were very nice & helpful. I had an early morning flight into Charlotte. Arrived to the hotel by 9am and they graciously let me check right in - not even a raised eyebrow. I was extremly pleased with my experience - thank you Renaissance Charlotte Suites!

Let me start by saying I was not here by choice, but rather, US Airways gave me a voucher here after their mechanical problems made me miss my connection out of Charlotte.

The airport shuttle picked me up at the airport promptly, and the driver was very friendly, loading my bags onto the van. We arrived at the hotel about 10 minutes later. The lobby of this hotel is beautiful; it is basically a huge atrium. Check in was quick, friendly, and uneventful; the lady handling the whole transaction processed my voucher quickly, then sent me on my way to my room. The room was very nice. I was traveling by myself, and I was given a suite with a seperate living area with a sleeper sofa. In the bedroom, there were two queen size beds. The beds were very comfortable.

However, as with any airport hotel, there are bound to be ripoffs somewhere. Internet was $8 for 24 hours. The breakfast buffet was $11.95. Come on now.

We decided to vacation in Charlotte and stayed at this hotel after getting an incredibly magnificent deal with name your own price at priceline.com. The seven nights we stayed, was $40/night. These rooms typically go for anywhere from $119-$219 per night. Talk about a deal!

The day we arrived we got there early and the staff did everything they could to get us into a room earlier than check in. They also moved our room to one with a little more space. While we waited, the front desk personnel spoke with us, and told us about some great things to do in Charlotte. The staff was incredibly delightful.

We got our room and it was nice. There were a few maintenance issues, the sink needed to be cleaned, and there was some dust on the windows, but that wasnt the end of the world. We had to ask for a crib several times before we got it, and we got a play yard instead, which looked like it had been used for a looong time. I dont know why I was expecting a REAl crib, but we didnt use the play yard. The king size bed was comfy, and one night we had both of our children sleep in it with us.

The second day our room wasnt serviced. That was probably the only thing that was a slight disappointment. However, the front desk gave us complimentary tickets for breakfast in the hotel- which was delicious. Our room was cleaned every day afterward. The buffet in the hotel is usually $11.95pp. Since we stayed so long, we bough milk, cereal, cold cuts, etc for the room so we didnt have to eat out much, although we did anyway. The rooms have a microwave, a wet bar, and a refrigerator. The fridge is bigger than the average dorm room fridge.

The hotel is very attractive, and the pool and hot tub were nice. On two nights we ran into loud groups of teens/young adults- and we're only 26, so we're not old enough to be annoyed by kids, but these kids (maybe early 20's) were loud, drinking, and kept jumping in the pool and hot tub. We immediately turned around because we had children with us. These kids were there for a cutco event. Very immature. Other than that, they stay was great. Apparently on Sunday nights there is lots of vacancies. We felt as if we were the only ones there.

There is an old security guard who walks around at night, which freaked my husband out a little, lol. The location is hidden away, yet is close to everything. We did have to drive 4 hours to the beach.. so if you're going to the beach, Id say stay closer to Myrtle or Wilmington. Wilmington was wonderful. The hotel is 20 minutes away from downtown. It is close to probably every single fast food chain you could imagine.

Be careful when leaving the airport. We had to get gas on the way to catch our flight home and the first town after the airport is what we call the 'hood'. And we're from the Bronx, so we can say that. Im not sure of the name of the town, but it was shocking to see it was there after the rest of Charlotte was so nice. It had the highest gas prices we've seen and lets just say I locked the doors when my husband got out to get gas. He didnt even go inside to get the receipt.

Luckily all was well and we left Charlotte wanting to go back. We are thinking of buying a house there. We didnt go out at night, due to not having a baby sitter, but there is a place called the epicenter which seemed pretty live. The hotel was a nice place to turn in after a long day.

We stayed one night at the Renaissance Suites in Charlotte on our way to SC from Ohio. We are a family of four and are quite fussy when it comes to hotels, but not overly so. The Renaissance Suites exceeded our expectations.

Check in was quick and easy. Our one bedroom suite was spacious and clean. The living room had a large (queen size I think) sofa bed which accomodated our two tween daughters. The king sized bed in the bedroom was very luxurious. We all slept very well. The bathroom was clean. The suite had two flat screen TVs.

We ate dinner at the hotel restaurant. The service for us was quite slow, but I was told the entree I ordered required extra time. I was told this after waiting at least 45 minutes. All was forgiven when my meal arrived. It was delicious. My daughters ordered dessert from room service. The food arrived promptly.

The hotel has a very nice state of the art exercise facility. Each cardio machine had its own television with a small selection of channels.

We had a lovely breakfast the next day in the restaurant. A little pricey, but a good value for the children's meals.

I highly recommend the Renaissance Suites in Charlotte.

Overnight stay on our way home South. Paid $99.00 which I think is not the normal rate. (Saturday night...walk in.) We search for a cool and comfortable room and fine dining. Hotel food is often a challenge so it's nice to be pleasantly surprised, and we were here. So this review is about service, food, and the room. All three were up to par for a Marriott. The dinner was great....suggest ordering the steaks. Chef obviousley knows what he is doing with steak. However, what we seem to always discover in a non-company hotel (a hotel not directly owned and managed by Marriott) is there is something always missing.
Now this is really picky for most, but if you are going to have a great chef, with a great wine list, why serve a $100.00 bottle of wine in cheap, hard-to-break glasses. You know the ones I mean...short stemmed, thick buy 'em by the hundreds, ugly bar wine glasses.
I know if Marriott was running this restaurant, fine crystal Cabernet or Bordeaux glasses would have been provided to enjoy a great wine.
For us, it's that little attention to detail that makes it right. So come on Marriott, talk to this manager and do it right in the restaurant.
