Stayed here overnight on our way to Mexico. The room was disgusting for the price we paid. No elevators. Wallpaper falling off walls. Carpet stains everywhere. We planned on leaving our car at the "sleep & fly" bonus. We upgraded our room for $10.00 thinking that parking at the hotel would be worth it. We went into Charlotte and had a great time. Came back to the hotel and went to the grocery store next store. The security guard told my husband that we should not leave anything in our car because they will break in your car just for change. He told him that it's a really bad neighborhood. We took everything out of our car. We eventually ended up parking at Charlotte airport - which ended up being only $3.00 a day and very secure.

We booked three rooms for two nights through hotels.com. It ended up that we arrived early and stayed an extra night paying CI & S's nightly rate. When paying for this additional night a person in our party had trouble with their credit card and it was 'denied' so he paid with a different card. Once we were in our rooms he called the credit card company and the card company could see the hotel transaction--it seemed as if he had been charged the rate on two cards. When he went to the front desk to resolve this problem the girl at the counter REFUSED and was horribly rude to help him with this. She said she didnt charge his card and 'if you dont like it there's the door'. The next morning he called the card company back and the transaction had apparently been deleted overnight b/c the charge was gone--thankfully. However, my friend and I went to tell the General Manager about our treatment---we thought he'd want to know how unprofessional and rude she was. WRONG. He was no better. He did reluctantly apologize but in the next breath he told us we shouldnt even be there b/c we used expedia (we used hotels.com).

The cleaning staff was very nice and there were others you could tell wanted to say something but bit their toungue b/c they needed a paycheck.

The rooms were okay but if you have a problem they are NOT going to help you!!

Overall, I would not recommend this hotel.

Staff and manager were rude, unprofessional and not friendly. In town for Nascar race or would have switched hotels. Our friend got charged twice on his credit card and staff would not talk to the credit card company to get resolved. We were told that "if we did not like the customer service we were getting that we could walk out the front door". The next day talking with the manager he was just as bad! I would strongly recommend using another hotel. I have never stayed at a Country Inn and Suites and probably won't again. Really wasn't that clean either.

I was a bit skittish about staying here after reading the review about the airplane noise but that is only a problem if you are OUTSIDE the hotel. You can't hear it if you are inside, esp. if the heat/AC is running.

This hotel caters to the business travelers and I noticed a lot of airline employees were staying here, too. That was good news because it normally means you get quiet neighbors who go to bed at a decent hour. There's a good variety of breakfast items for the buffet: waffles ( u make) cereal, fruit, yogurt, breakfast burritos, etc.

We were going on vacation for a week and I would not want to park my car just anywhere in Charlotte for that long. But I felt that due to the hotel's location (which is right behind a Shoney's) leaving it at the Country Inn it was probably as safe as leaving it the airport lot. Before you depart, the hotel has you park right out in front of the the building where people come and go constantly and the parking lot itself very well lit.

The whole process went very smoothly until our return flight landed we tried to get a ride BACK from the airport to pick up the car. I called the hotel immediately after we retrieved our baggage and they told me it would be 15 to 20 minutes. However, it took them 40 minutes to show up, even though the hotel is only five or six miles from the aiport.

Maybe that doesn't sound just TOO bad. But when it's late and you've been sitting on an airplane for five hours, you're gritty, and hungry and jet-lagged, your one overriding thought is just getting HOME ASAP, not standing on a curb with your luggage for what seems like forever, watching vans from other hotels (Marriott, Sheraton, etc. ) make their SECOND round of pickups.

Finally, I called the hotel a SECOND time and the driver showed up about 20 minutes later. And apparently, this kind of nonchalent service is not a rare thing with the Country Inn; I heard our female van driver tell an airline employee who rode back from the airport with us that the male van driver is never on time either because he often swings by to pick up an order of ribs before he makes his airport pickup. They were laughing about it, but by that time I'd pretty much lost my sense of humor.

So my advice is, if you plan on taking a shuttle to the airport, do yourself a favor and stay at another hotel that actually offers some service after the sale. Otherwise, you might as well prepare yourself for a good looooonnnng wait.

  • Liked — It was clean and quiet and had a good variety of breakfast food.
  • Disliked — Shuttle service from the airport was extremely slow.
  • Tips/Secrets: — Don't use the shuttle. Park at the airport.
