Like a few of the other reviewers on this site, I too, ran into the issue of the office being closed at 3pm on the weekend, despite my confirmation email clearly stating "check-in after 4pm." As you can imagine, I arrived around 4:30p and was greeted by a "closed" sign on the office door. Thankfully, I ran into the very nice gentleman who was the security guy for the establishment. He was able to let me into a room for the night and trusted me to stop by the office the next morning and square away the actual check-in process with the office clerk.
The room the first night was nothing as advertised on their website (I booked directly through the Greenleafe Inn website.) There was no such thing as a stove, ceiling fan or any lock on the door. Both the deadbolt and the chain lock had been taken off and disabled, so that was just a slight bit unnerving. But I figured since the security guy was being nice enough to put me up for the night without taking payment, I'd not complain and instead, just sort it out in the morning.
The next morning, I went over to the office to officially check-in and asked the front desk clerk for a different room. She quickly advised me that I had one of the better rooms and that I probably didn't want to stay on the side of the building where people actually lived there. Interpret that however you'd like because it certainly told me a thing or two.... So,I wound up keeping the room, which was not as promised. But judging by her initial "warning", that may have been the best choice after all.
The rest of the week went so-so. The most troubling part was that you could hear the security guy talking outside to various people, in a loud voice, starting at 8am and going until about 5pm. He wasn't yelling- he just had a loud voice but hearing it all day long was somewhat of a pain. Then there was the paper-thin walls. I had no trouble feeing the vibrations of my neighbors TV next door.
The room itself was very very basic. It is VERY MUCH in need of fresh furniture, painting and bed sheets. It was absolutely nothing special; it was merely a room. It was comfortable and liveable, don't get me wrong....just nothing more than a crash pad, I suppose.
Overall, I'd probably come back and recommed this place if you want a cheap, simple place to stay and don't mind being on the very south end of the city. Otherwise, you'd be better to take something closer to town and spend the extra money.
Side note and personal anecdote: I left one day and the maids came to clean the room. I took all my money, valuables and laptop with me since I didn't feel like them being stolen. I come back and the coffee pot is gone, so it makes me wonder: were the maids pissed that they couldn't find anything of value to steal and resorted to heisting the coffee pot? I suppose I'll never know....
