Hi,
We just returned from a 4 night stay at the Wingate Inn Charlotte Coliseum. The hotel, while not a luxury hotel was very nice. The room we stayed in had 2 queen double beds, one bath,a fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, hairdryer, and one tv. The tv had the option of getting the internet on your tv for $9.95. You could also play Nintendo games, choose 120 minutes of music to listen to, or rent movies still in theaters and recently available on DVD from your in-room tv for $9.95. While we didn't use any of this, I did think it was a nice feature to have available. The rooms were clean and comfortable. There is also a nice chair and ottoman in each room as well as a large desk with internet access if you have a laptop. The beds were nice and comfortable, but the blankets and sheets were somewhat thin. We could've requested extra, which I'm sure would've solved the problem but we never took the time to do that. They have an outdoor pool that isn't very large, but is a decent size. They have a seperate enclosed jacuzzi room that one must use their room key to access as well as a nice workout room that you must use your room key to access. They also have a little office type room available to guests that has 2 computers that you can use to access the internet for free, as well as containing a fax maching and clocks representing all of the US time zones. I used the computer to access the internet to check email and ebay auctions etc... and this was really convenient for me. I imagine that it would be even more convenient for a business traveler. They have a nice breakfast that's included with the room every morning. I never made it down for this as I like to sleep in on vacations but my husband said they offered juices, fruits, cereals, milk, bagels and danishes, eggs, bacon, sausage, and they have waffle batter made up and a waffle maker that guests can use to cook up some Belgian waffles. On Tues. nights they have what is called a "manager's reception" for the guests which includes free beer, wine, nuts, cheese, crackers, cookies, and meatballs. This is also a really nice feature that's included for free. The staff was very friendly and polite and I would definitely recommend this hotel to others and would definitely be willing to stay here at this hotel again myself were I in the area. Also, there are just a great variety of eating places within a 10-15 minute range of the area, several which are listed on their website. We ate at the Cheesecake Factory,Maggiano's,Kabuto Japanese Steak House,PF Chang's and Carrabba's on our visit and enjoyed all of them. All in all, a totally lovely visit and worth every cent.
