The hotel was great-only about 15 minutes from everything we wanted to do-South Park, Discovery Place, South End, Airport. Walmart was accross the street and there were many restaurants surrounding us. The breakfast was great-hot eggs, biscuits, sausage, make your own waffles, french toast-coffe, tea, apple and oj. The evening reception was also a treat-drinks and snacks. The staff really helped by recommending places to go-one was a bakery-Nonna's. Yummo!!! The rooms were good-2 double beds. I felt safe and welcomed!

I honestly don't understand all the rave reviews on here for this hotel. It's a decent place but not really anything special. The free drinks and snacks are a nice touch for a hotel in this price range, but many others offer this as well. They really need to update the decor and furnishings of this hotel, very 80s looking. Most of their competition have done so already, including most Hamptons and LaQuintas. The wifi is spotty at best.

The staff also could be described as adequate, nothing better or worse. You will get mostly blank stares or shrugs from them when asked a question.

The area is horrendous as far as traffic and congestion are concerned. It's a good thing there are several restaurants within walking distance, because it's a real hassle to take your car out in this neighborhood. However the restaurants are just your average, national chain places, so if you want a decent meal you will have to get in your car.

Lastly, I don't see why everyone is so impressed with the security gate. Yes, you need a room key card to get through the gate, but so what? If someone wants to make mischief, he can just park in the Friday's lot right next door and walk over, as they are connected! Besides the gate is problematic, as I usually had to swipe my card several (more than five) times before it would work.

All in all, not a horrible place, but certainly there are better options nearby at a similar price.

Pros:
- Good Free Breakfast: Not just your average continental stuff. Scrambled eggs (w/ toppings like cheese, ham, salsa, etc.), sausage patties, biscuits, gravy, yogurt, cereals, bananas, apples, Belgian waffles, breads, grits, french toast, juices.
- Good Location: Minutes from major roads such as I-85, I-485 and others. Cheddar's, TGIFriday's and several more restaurants from fancy to fast are very close. Wal-Mart (not a 24 hr) is right across the street (until they open the super WM nearby). Lots more shopping also close by.
- Very nice lobby & breakfast area: Comfy & nice furniture.
- Snacks & drinks for free in lobby: free fountain soft drinks, popcorn and 1 free alcoholic beverage during your stay.
- Nice indoor/outdoor pool & hot tub.
- Decent fitness room.
- King sized beds are comfy.
- Large screen TV with loads of cable channels.
- Gated parking (access with room key).
- Nicely furnished room.
- Mini fridge & microwave tucked away behind a cabinet.
- Staff quickly addressed an unruly party situation with discretion.
- Laundry room with 1 washer & 1 dryer.
- Small convenience store in lobby for some items.
- Curved shower curtain bar!
- Iron & ironing board; coffee maker.

Cons:
- Some night staff a bit brusque.
- Bring your own shampoo & soap. They provide some, but didn't like the quality.
- TV picture quality not exactly HD. Not sure if it is the hotels fault vs. cable/picture settings, etc.
- The card readers on the parking gates and some external doors just won't read your card unless you run it at least 12 times. This can get annoying fast.
- "24 Hour Business Center" is just 1 comp with sub-DSL speed with a fax/printer. It is adequate to get the job done, but if some kid is chatting or some jerk is checking football scores, you've got to wait in line.
- If you need something from the front desk, get dressed and go get it yourself. This isn't exactly the kind of joint that has spare people to bring up a flat sheet or toilet paper.

Overall:
- Free good breakfast, nice furnishings, good room, decent price (esp. with promotions & deals), good location.

  • Liked — Good free breakfast & good location!
  • Disliked — Get better card readers!

We had a one night stay here on our way to the airport.
The hotel served its purpose very well and was reasonably priced when you consider that breakfast is inclusive.

The Good:
The room was a generous size, which was good since we needed to fit a baby crib into the room. The hotel provided the baby crib at no cost, which was a nice touch. When we booked we requested one, but they didn't have it ready when we checked in. I asked at the front desk and they were very friendly and brought the bed within 10 minutes, great service.
The bed was comfortable, and the four pillows were of two different firmness, so more likely to find one to your liking.
Included in the room rate was hot breakfast, parking, Wifi internet access. There was also free ice, free drinks in the lobby, free telephone calls, etc. The room also had a small mini-bar type fridge, which was empty.
The area is just another motorway stop type setup. There is a TGIF and a Chilis in the same complex, and a mall a couple of miles down the road.

The Bad:
The air conditioning was individual units, and they were VERY LOUD. It was difficult to get a good sleep when it was running. We could also hear the ones in the units around us when they were running.
A tiny gripe that wouldn't both most but was a real pain with an infant or for anyone wanting to read a book before sleeping, there was no dim light in the room. The lights were either on or off, and very bright. Most hotels have a smaller lamp by the bed or in the room somewhere, but at Drury all the lamps were high lumen output and not dimable.

I started staying here several years ago for business. I liked the location and prices and perks enough to stay and spend my own money.

I was there in late April for pleasure (Jimmy Buffett concert....) and last week for business. Both times JoAnn helped me and she was excellent. In April I needed to get a ride to the concert, and they had a shuttle service (for a fee, $30 RT) who they worked directly with. She got the van back in time for us to get to the show and then back from the show to the hotel. The outdoor amphitheater is about 2-3 miles north, so this is a nice deal. Otherwise you're paying at least $10 to park-and they limos and shuttles use a separate entrance, so they can bypass traffic. If you have any alcohol, you also can avoid that as an issue by using the service.

Anyway, the hotel rooms are always clean and quiet. The perks are outlined in other's posts here and are correct, great buffett and evening drinks on the house. Decent wifi in lobby and wired connection in the room. Check out is at 11am, which seems an hour early, but I was on the way out when housekeeping was knocking on my door at 11:00:01 am.

I would stay here again; I have had a problem or two that sent me to the front desk and it was always resolved. I could not even tell you what the issue was as they handled it promptly.
