Very nice hotel, great service good restaurant, but very difficult to get to. The roads around the hotel are mostly one way and finding the correct route to the entrance on your first visit is a crap shoot. The room was clean and the sink area was modern. One personal pet peeve i have is when the door nearly hits the toilet - it is a small restroom. The conference rooms were excellent and were well priced.

Room Tip: The higher the room, the better the view.

I stayed here for my 21st birthday with 5 other people. We were able to walk to almost everything and the few things we didn't walk to we could use the complimentary shuttle. This is a nice hotel with a very friendly staff, we didn't pay any covers because of the staff. The rooms were nice and I loved the beds. Everything felt very clean and the housekeepers were lightning fast. The only bad thing I have to say is I wish the hot tub had been open because it was one of the main selling points on the website.

Room Tip: If you're worried about noise ask for a room on the backside of the hotel because there is some...

Nice hotel, but a little bit tired rooms. Not worn down, but soon(?). Lots of tv channels, if you stay in one night! Staying for the weekend? Friday nights are usually noisy, people being out partying... Staff is nice, and if going for business the complimentary breakfast/dinner snack at 15th floor is highly recommended. Very small gym, but works. Close to everything in Charlotte, since it's perfect on spot in Uptown. Tight hotel parking, go for valet. Lots of great restaurants nearby. Recommend Whiskey River and O'Connellys (around the corner, basically) if you don't like the somewhat highly priced hotel bar... .)

My husband and I recently stayed for one night while being in town for a NFL game. This hotel is in a great downtown location to restraunts, nightlife and shopping. Our room was on the top floor and we had a great city view. First let me say that the staff was wonderful at check-in, very nice and helpful answering questions about the area. All of the areas that we saw were very clean and well kept. This is an older hotel that has been remodeled to be more modern. Our room provided all the space that we needed. The pool and spa are on the roof (which was already closed for the season) as well as a walking/running track. There is a really nice view from this area. As far as the price I don't really know, I am a rewards member and did use points for my stay that night.

Great location with everything within walking distance. Staff was helpful and capable. Several reviewers mentioned slow elevators which at times proved to be slow but is a work in progress according to signs posted.

Room Tip: Street side rooms can be noisy as bars empty and routine street noise

As the title says, you'll be hard-pressed to find a hotel downtown with better customer service or one in the center of entertainment and the EpiCenter. Every staff member was on their A-game and made you feel welcomed.

The only reason this gets a 4* instead of a 5 is simply due to the room. As a Platinum member, I was upgraded to the top (14th?) floor. I'm not exactly sure what the upgrade was, however. It seemed like a pretty standard King room. The bed was rather firm. I didn't have much of an issue with this, but I am definitely more accustomed to Starwood brand beds which are in a class of their own. The room did seem clean, though, and the tv remote was the ACTUAL remote that came with the tv, meaning it worked with ease! How sad is it that is a rarity these days?! Plenty of HD channels, as well. There also was no lounge access on the weekend, which must have been what the upgrade was about? I was given a $20 breakfast voucher for breakfast in the cafe the next morning, though, so I appreciated that. It covered two buffets which was your typical breakfast buffet fare.

Oh, and the value... can't really be beaten. They'll "validate" your parking for $1 off the rate of $16 for a total of $15. That part definitely sucks. It's not exactly convenient getting from your car to the entrance to the hotel, either (but a helluva lot better than the aloft). If you're there on a weekend, find parking a block away for less than half the cost in other garages.

The walking track on top of the building is a joke, and there really isn't any view of anything too cool. Plus, there was scaffolding lying over part of it.

If/when I come back to CLT, I'll try it out again if other hotels are $30+ more per night.

Room Tip: There apparently aren't many different room types here.

Recently had a short business trip here. The hotel staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout. The location is convenient to many good restaurants (Mertz is next door) and a few theaters and museums. Not crazy for having the sink outside the bath proper. Nice perk - free van service for short trips.

Room Tip: Odd numbered rooms have a better view
