“Fab location, comfy beds and a cookie on arrival!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2010

I thought this hotel was perfectly situated for wandering into the city and our room was spacious, clean, light and airy. We were greeted with friendly and efficient service from Amy on arrival and also the added bonus of a lovely warm chocolatey cookie. We had one problem during our stay; when we arrived at our non-smoking room, it smelt strongly of cigarette smoke which seemed to be coming from the shower curtain, which I can only presume had been moved from a smoking room....we reported this problem and the curtain was quickly changed and the room smelt fresh after this. I would definitely stay at this hotel again if I was in the area and on the experience at this hotel would stay at a doubletree hotel again in the future.

The room was very clean. The hotel grounds are well kept and the whole place feels very new and comfortable.

The front desk staff, 24 hour fitness center and location of the hotel were the strongest assets of the hotel.
There are some improvements necessary to make this an overall positive experience. There was mold in the air conditioning system that swelled my throat and made it difficult for me to talk and I had a three hour presentation that next morning. Coffee was only offered in the morning and not all day in the lobby and you had to pay 9.95 for internet in your room. To offset that, there was only one computer in the business center that was always busy.

Overall, there are some improvements needed to would have made this stay better.

Thank you for choosing the Doubletree Charlotte Gateway Village. Your comments are greatly appreciated and helpful in improving our property and services. After inspection of the room we did not find any mold. We believe that the sore throat may be attributed to the high pollen count. Unfortunately, Charlotte is the third worst city for allergies and asthma. In regards to the business center, we believe the guest was mistakenly thinking that the Hertz car rental desk was our business center, as our business center is equipped with two computers. We do value your feedback and will continue to find ways to improve our hotel. Thank you again for choosing our hotel and we hope you will consider staying with us again when your plans bring you to Charlotte.

Okay first good things: Spacious Room, Nice Restaurent, Hertz Car Rental at place, although not in middle of uptown but easily accesible to Trade and Tryon with Goldline Trolley, Starbucks in walking distance

Downside: Internet and parking are expensive, my stay was paid, but normal room rate could go up

Thank you for choosing the Doubletree Charlotte Gateway Village. Parking fees are customary for all but two hotels in center city Charlotte. In most cases, like ours, we do not own the parking deck and have to pay a fee annually in order provide parking for our guests. We do value your feedback and will continue to find ways to improve in this area. Thank you again for choosing our hotel and we hope you will consider staying with us again when your plans bring you to Charlotte.

Just had my second stay at this property, love it for an intown Charlotte property. The rooms are smallish but very clean and comfortable, I sleep well in their beds. I don't hear hallway noise, which seems to be a miracle in hotels these days, I like the location at the Johnson and Wales campus, is about a 3/4 mile walk into the downtown or "uptown" of Charlotte, which I felt okay doing with my husband but would not do alone. The bartender made me a great Cosmo martini, parking is easy enough and you can park yourself (which I prefer over a valet taking my car). I'm thinking I brought my cat the first time I stayed there, so I think it is a pet property which is handy for a lot of people. Absolutely nothing bad to say about this place and I'm not that easy to please!!

Very close to downtown Charlotte and convenient to all the amenities of the city at a lower rate. Clean rooms, in house place restaurant w/room service. Rooms were pretty modern and comfortable, wireless and hard wire for laptops. We would stay again, no doubt. Complaints? Thought parking was a bit much for hotel residents, $12.00 / day.

The room was nice and very clean. I was disappointed in the air conditioning and internet service. The air condition was VERY loud and made it hard to sleep. Also had to pay for internet service and parking the car.

Thank you for choosing the Doubletree Charlotte Gateway Village. Your comments are greatly appreciated and helpful in improving our property and services. While we realize that the air conditioner unit can be a little noisy when it comes on, we have found that leaving the fan on continuously will reduce the noise significantly. We do value your feedback and will continue to find ways to improve in this area. Thank you again for choosing our hotel and we hope you will consider staying with us again when your plans bring you to Charlotte.
