At check-in, the room I requested was not available so they were kind enough to give me an upgrade. Now, I would hate to see what the room would have been like before the upgrade. My traveling companions were my mother and my 4 mos. old granddaughter. Unloading what luggage we could carry along with the baby we located our room. We were unable to gain entry into the room because the keys would not open the doors. One of the housekeepers was close by so we asked her for help. She too tried her keys and was unable to unlock the doors. She advised she would check and be right back. We waited for her return only to wait needlessly. Finally, needing to get the baby out of the cold, I left my mother and the baby waiting for the housekeeper to return. I returned to our vehicle and drove back to the front office only to learn that the housekeeper had not contacted anyone about the problem. Someone was dispatched to the room and the cards were rekeyed. We then were able to get the baby in out of the cold. After getting in we had to call for some light bulbs as some of the bulbs were blown in some of the essential lighting fixtures. The rest of of our stay consisted of fighting with the heating unit because we were unable to get either of the 2 units to warm the rooms above 70 degrees. It was cold and raining. The sidewalks that allowed us to get to our rooms contained low lying areas at the precise points that drain spouts from the roof were located. We had to walk through 4" or more of water to get to our room. Our feet were wet by the time we waded through all of that. As if that wasn't enough, we awoke one morning to saturated carpet due to a leak in the ceiling. Upon calling the front desk, maintenance was dispatched and brought a 5 gal. bucket to sit under the leak. We just sat a trash can underneath it to catch the water. However, the floor was saturated due to what seemed to be water draining down the inside of the wall. They never returned to vacuum the water out of thehecked in, a man was at the front desk asking why the dataport in his room wasn't working. He was told (paraphrasing) some of them do and some of them don't. They didn't know why, but ports were available in the lobby he could use. I travel fairly frequently and have never had a more disappointing stay and any hotel chain. I will never stay at another Homewood Suite in any of my future travels and will strongly reconsider staying anywhere that is associated with the Hilton name.
