We booked a night here before catching an early morning flight out of Charlotte/Douglas International Airport. I think the Hyatt Place hotels are geared for quick business stays, and it was a perfect start to our vacation as well. I really wished we had arrived earlier in the day to enjoy this hotel a while longer. We payed a little extra to stay here because the hotel looked very nice online. We were not disappointed, it is very nice.

It seemed a little tricky to get to from the highway, but my GPS had no trouble at all. Hotel looks very clean outside and did not disappoint inside either. The staff at check-in was perfect. There is a nice seating area as you enter the lobby, and the front-desk/bar/restaurant feeds around to the right.

The bar closed just after we got settled in (midnight) but looked perfect for a quick drink, or break after a long day. The breakfast started at 6:00am, which we also missed for our flight, but some coffee and fruit and muffins were still available.

The room was surprising. I noticed the mention of a flat screen TV when we booked the room, but was shocked at the huge size and quality of the TV. Large swivel arm made it usable anywhere in the room, and available jacks would make it usable for business presentation as well. A seating and work area was very usable and comfortable. The beds were absolutely first class, a good balance or soft/firm that should please most. Very nice bedding, extra pillows... they knew I was coming. Bathroom and dressing area were just right for us too. Wish my brain was working better at the time, I would have taken some pictures that didn't include us.

I think it took 5-10 minutes to get to the airport. Anytime in this area, we will use this hotel again.

  • Liked — Location close to airport, beds, TV and overall apperance and comfort.

There was one major problem with this hotel, the wireless Internet access in the room was almost useless. They limit access to 11MBps and I didn't get close to this. I would have to take my laptop out into the public area to check my work email. For a business traveler, this would be a deal-breaker.

Other than that, the place was very nice and clean, but a little odd. My room had a very large living room area that was open with no furniture. This would have made it comfortable for an extended stay, However, the bedroom, bathroom area and the closet were very small and cluttered. They could have come up with a better use of space.

The main floor public area was small also. They don't have a real restaurant on site, just a bar where you can order food. The food was good though.

I have not been to a hotel that the pictures is exactly what you see online until this one. The Hyatt was wonderful. I didn't want to leave. I will visit them again.

I stayed here for 4 weeks while undergoing basic indoc for my new company.

The hotel and staff just converted from Amerisuites.

The staff is very gracious and the hotel is in tip top condition. They are no doubt getting inspections from Hyatt regional and national managers. We met a few and they were eager for our input.

The hotel has the standard Hyatt Place look and feel of a loungey entrance. Snacks and light fare can be purchased from the hotel desk. There is no laundry on premises but clothes can be sent out.
There is a free breakfast in the morning and you can buy a heavier bacon and eggs if necessary.

The rooms are quiet and new. The TVs are the becoming standard 3 foot HD flat screens. Wireless internet with two computers in the lobby.

Excellent all around.

  • Liked — Staff were commited to helping you and great remodeled rooms
  • Disliked — No real nightlife around the area

While the common areas seem to be recently renovated, the rooms are old and tired. I was, unfortunately, only able to get a smoking room given the late reservation I made. It smelled of stale smoke, but it wasn't overwhelming.

The furnishings have seen better days and you can feel the springs of the mattress beneath you while you sleep. The window unit air conditioning unit was very loud, but it did a good job of drowning out the noise from the nearby airport. The room itself was clean, though the bathrooms need to be overhauled since there is some mildew ingrained in the grout. For an extended stay, one would expect a little more room as far as a refrigerator/freezer goes. A cooktop would also be a nice touch.

I found the staff friendly and willing to please, but noticed a few people complaining about their rooms and they seemed to walk away without being satisfied, so perhaps I was just lucky?

The breakfast was above average for this class of hotel. The standard continental fare, plus make them yourself waffles and some scrambled eggs and sausage.

I'd probably stay here again, but it wouldn't be my first choice.
