We spent a great weekend at this location. Very clean, very spacious, nice outdoor sitting area to enjoy. Staff was more than helpful. Good location, was able to get downtown and to South Park Mall quickly.

To me the important basics are - clean, great bed, shower and towels.

The beds have the pillow top mattress - that was wonderful to sleep on and lots of big pillows. Sheets and bedspread were sparkling clean.

Shower - awesome, shower head was powerful and water hot and plenty. Towels were good, not the super fluffy ones but not skimpy either. Bar soap, hair shampoo were provided. Hair dryer in bathroom. One of those terrible low flow toilets though that you have to flush twice.

Closet for clothes with ironing board. Coffee maker in room - good thing since when I left at 6:45 AM breakfast was NOT out - not even any coffee. I thought that was a bit late for a Sat AM. Hotels do cater to travelers.... you would think breakfast would be out earlier.

So for the bad things I noticed - the door to the hallway had a gap all the way around the door - so at night when the room lights were out you could see a glow of light though the gap all the way around the door. Lots of little things were broken and repaired - the desk had a crack, the door trim looked like it had been fixed, top of the back splash around the sink had not been cleaned, shaving cream or something was on the light fixture. The carpet looked like it was due for a cleaning. Nothing major just you can tell the hotel has seen better days.

I do appreciate that they allow dogs. Heads up if you are staying with a dog - there is only one or two tiny spots to toilet your dog. You have to walk to the side of the hotel along the road to find a bit of grass. That is how I found out they have a security monitored system, I cut though some bushes to get my dogs to the grass and an automated voice came on warning me that the parking lot is watched by audio and video. The area did not seem terribly bad. There is a hotel on each side of this one. But I arrived and left in the dark so really can't comment on the area. I stuck to well lighted areas when I walked my dogs just in case. I did see another hotel guest leaning into a car and wondered if a drug deal was going on - but I sure didn't stop to check. In the hall way I could hear other guests talking in their rooms and worried how loud it would be in my room but I could not hear anything once in my room.

Since I only paid $44 - it was a steal. If I had been paying $100 I would have expected a little better.

Stayed here on the way from Pittsburgh to Myrtle Beach because we got a great rate from Hotwire. The hotel seems standard in everything it does and offers a decent free breakfast every morning. Neighborhood doesn't seem to be as bad as everyone else suggests, but I brought all my luggage in for the night regardless. We needed a crib/pack and play for our daughter and had to request it several times from the front desk, but that was the worst of it. Also, if you're looking for a fun dinner and you don't mind Mexican, I definitely recommend Azteca about a mile away; fun environment and great food. (Get the fresh guacamole!)

We stayed here one night in March after a fiasco at the La Quinta north. This place was very clean and nice, although the neighborhood is somewhat questionable.
