“Special occasion favorite”

Oversized booths make romantic dinners awkward, but are great for business dinners or meeting friends. Pricey, but a lovely atmosphere, good service and great wine & steak.

“Long Overdue Meal at Bin 54”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2012 via mobile

After 7 years in Chappy and only a block from my office I finally dined at Bin 54. My husband and I had a spur of the moment meal and it was fantastic. The beef was nicely prepared, just as I ordered. Had appetizer, salad, steak, 2 sides, drinks, dessert, coffee for 2 people. Well worth $200.

“Best of the best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2012

The best compliment I can give Bin 54 is that every time we walk out of here we say we should go here more. On repeated visits, we have never had a bad experience. We've eaten at steakhouses the world over, and the flavor of Bin 54 steaks is what we always end up comparing them to (get the bone in ribeye).

Sides have gotten better over the ears to the point that most of them are standouts, especially the green beans, truffle Mac and cheese, and truffle fries. At opening the desserts were the weakest part of the menu but they have improved dramatically.

“One of the most elegant restaurants in Chapel Hill”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2012

Excellent steaks and very good service at this slightly hidden-away restaurant on the south side of Chapel Hill. Nice date-night place if your wallet doesn't mind the expense. Our filets were perfectly done (if you don't want yours salty, ask the waiter to have the chef prepare it without salt), the vegetables just right. Service was what you'd expect. If anything didn't measure up, it was some of the other guests--who apparently didn't know to come to a nice restaurant wearing something other than shorts and t-shirts. Because there are no dress codes any more in such fine dining establishments, these guests were seated, but they also had the manners to go along with the less-than-acceptable clothing choices. Would that a good restaurant still refused to seat and serve those who aren't ready to behave appropriately or dress that way either.

“great steaks - but overpriced”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2012

We ate here to celebrate the birth of our first grand child. The steaks, food and drinks were great but we think it's really overpriced. EVERYTHING was ala carte and very $$$$
