“Nice food good people”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2012

I ate here with a group of friends last year and very much enjoyed the food. The prices are okay and the service is good. The menu is chocked full of Asian cuisine both spicy and some not so much.

“Third visit, a little disappointed this time.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2012

First off, I'd like to state that we've been here three times. The first two trips would've rated 4s or 5s. The food was awesome, the service was adequate. We'd eaten curries and had good beef . If this was our first trip, we'd probably not return, but as they're 2 for 3, we'll likely give them another shot in the future, but they've fallen a few rungs in the priority listing.

Went with the wife and 3 other friends for a belated birthday celebration. Ordered a couple beers. Wife had the Jujube bolognese, which she remarked as having no asian influence whatsoever. Essentially an Italian dish from an Asian restaurant and she was unimpressed. I ordered the Angry Seafood, which was supposed to be seafood in a spicy black bean sauce.
The sauce was overpowered with soy sauce and very salty. It was spicy, the seafood was good, but it was basically drowned in Kikkoman, which wasn't at all what was advertised, and honestly detracted from the shrimp, mussels, crawfish, and squid in the broth.

It's a pricier place on a relative scale, and the first two times it was worth it. This past time, not so much.

Service was good, but a little awkward at times.

“Good food....good service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2012

Jujube is always good. The flank steak with lemongrass is a fav but we've never had a bad meal there. Try for one of the curtained-off booths in the back -- quieter and private. Also, get yourself on their e-mail list. Their wine dinners are wonderful. It's also one of the best places in Chapel Hill for drinks -- never watered down, always well made. In warmer weather, their patio is very nice for lunch.

“Consistently tasty food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2012

You know the food here will be good. We have been going here for several years now and have not been disappointed even once. The appetizers and main courses are superb. The seafood here is excellent, I am told (by others since I don't eat seafood!). Other dishes are very flavorful and you can't go wrong. Desserts are okay. The cocktails are better than the wine list.

“Tasty Asian-inspired food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2012

Jujube is good for lunch or dinner, with different menus for each. The lunch menu caters to all manner of appetittes, ranging from light salads and starters to full-sized entrees. All dishes are Asian themed either in the spicing or the use of tofu, vegetables, seafood or meats in creative ways.

For lunch I had a tofu-vegetable stir fry that was big enough to have been shared. It was in a light sauce with a nice zing to it. The vegetables were truly the way they should be in a stir fry -- cooked but wtill with a bit of crunch, not the limp stuff typical of many mediocre Asian restaurants.

I have had dinner at Jujube before and the food was declicious then too. They have a number of fish and meat dishes that will leave anyone with an adventurous palate satisfied. The seared tuna is excellent and comes with a side of Asian-style mixed vegetables. I have never tried the meats so cannot comment.
