“Great staff, Very friendly and helpful. Very nice rooms.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012 via mobile

This is a very nice hotel, the rooms, restaurant and the landscaped outside are very attractive and comfortable. The staff were all A+. Only small gripes were the mold on ceeling of bathroom and the wireless Internet is a times unusable. I would certainly stay here again.

We have stayed here several times in the last few years while visiting relatives. This trip was unexpected on Sunday 10/14. The hotel is always clean and welcoming. The gentleman at the front desk is always very kind and a wealth of local knowledge. The only complaint I have is the design of the building which put the elevator far away from the entrance from the parking lot. If someone has a problem walking this can be inconvenient. I am sure we will be back.

My wife and I stayed at the Residence Inn on three occasions in 2010 while a member of our family was being treated for cancer at UNC hospitals. We were most impressed with the consideration we received at this hotel. Our accommodation was upgraded without additional cost to us when we explained the reason for our extending our stay, and in the three different rooms/suites we occupied everything was in perfect condition, the housekeeping staff did excellent work, and we got the rest we needed as we prepared for our days in hospital wards.
The breakfast buffet, by the way, was terrific!

I was traveling to attend a wedding in nearby Efland, NC and I checked into the Residence Inn, Chapel Hill, NC on 10/13/12. There was a very pleasant, dignified gentleman there to greet me and I was in my room within 10 minutes. The hotel is well kept and everything feels clean and fresh. My room was great with a nice kitchen, living room, king size bed and bath. I really liked the Swivel TV that turns toward bedroom or living room. It was all very well appointed and I would certainly stay there again. I didn't eat there so I cannot vouch for the breakfast, but I am sure it was just fine if not great.

Room Tip: they will allow you to pick a room from a chart when you get there if available. I chose a ground f...

This is the third time I have stayed at this Marriott, and each time the service has been Triple-A Marriott style. We arrived at 11am -- five hours before check in -- and the front desk clerk found us a room per our specifications. The rooms are fantastic: bed, sofa bed, full kitchen, plenty of lighting. My only gripe is that our bathroom shower was configured to be impossible to turn on without reaching around the shower door and getting your arm wet turning it on.

The hotel is conveniently located off 15-501, about 2.5 miles from UNC. If you are visiting relatives at Carol Woods retirement home, as we were, you are on the right side of 15-501 -- no highway to cross -- and about a 5 minute drive from CW.

The rooms encircle a pool and barbecue area, all clean and well-lit. The barbecue pit is well-maintained and families were grilling on a July night.

Breakfast is the usual solid fare, heavy on the carbs. If you don't want to hear the cacophony of Uber-family reunions, eat your breakfast poolside in good weather.

There is a 24/7 mini market at the front desk that stocks snacks and decent bottles of $15 wine. Coffee/tea also available 24/7.

Seniors and families with young children: Ask for a room as close as possible to the exit, because the elevators are not necessarily near the exits. This is a two-story hotel, and it's easier to walk up a flight of stairs than to make the hike to the elevator.

If you are arriving alone, ask for a room as close as possible to the front entrance, since some of the rooms are positioned near a dark end of the hotel hear a wooded area. This is not an issue in the summer, but it can be creepy, for lack of a better word, when the sun goes down at 5pm and you're traveling alone. This is a very safe hotel in a pretty safe town, but why tempt fate?

Tip: Make sure you have extra blankets in the room, especially in the summer.

Tip #2: If you do not want to deal with 15-501, go left out the hotel (left on to Erwin Road, make left at first traffic light on to Weaver Dairy Road. About 1-1.5 miles up WDR, on the left, is a good strip mall shopping center called Timberlyne: Margaret's Cantina (B- Mexican/B+ atmosphere; a post office; Cup a Joe (puts *$s to shame), opens early; a huge Food Lion supermarket; a cineplex, and an art theatre. There is another shopping center .25 miles further up, on the right, with a Harris Teeter and a gas station, but Timberlyne is easier to negotiate and has more usefull stuff, not to mention the best coffee in Chapel Hill.

Room Tip: Tip: Make sure you have extra blankets in the room, especially in the summer. Tip #2: If you do no...

This place felt like home for our weeks vacation. Was comfortable and plenty of room for two adults and a 12 year old child. Clean and safe. Great location. Excellent staff. Pool clean at all times. Great breakfast. Can't say enough about what a nice stay we had in this excellent hotel.

Overall, excellent hotel. Perfect location. We had a 5 day stay and breakfast was great! One of the best during our two week vacation. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Theres is a complimentary shuttle that takes you to nearby shopping. Pool area was great, kids wanted to stay all day.
