“Not bad”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013 via mobile

We felt like this tour was light on food and information. The actual business owners were great and the food was good but there either needed to be more guidance and information from the guide or more generous portions. Not a bad time but not worth $45.

Thank you for joining us on our Chapel Hill/ Carrboro brunch tour, and thank you for taking the time to post a review. We strive to provide customers with plenty of food and information on all our tours, and we feel we have done this very successfully. But some weeks are more challenging than others. February 16th was a challenging day with the snow flurries we encountered. Due to the weather, we decided to tell stories of history and architecture inside at the restaurants rather than stopping along the way. I am sorry to hear that you did not receive enough information about the area, and we will certainly learn from this experience going forward.

The combination of biscuit sandwiches, substantial market tastings, gourmet tasting plate, family-style Indian meal, and pecan pie usually has people taking that pie home with them because they are too full to eat it. People are typically quite stuffed at the end of this tour, and I am sorry to hear that on this particular day, the tastings did not leave you satisfied.

An important part of the Chapel Hill/ Carrboro tour is hearing from chefs, owners, artisans, and farmers about the rich farm-to-table aspect of these two communities. I'm happy to hear you enjoyed meeting them and their food. Again, thank you for your feedback.

Best,

Lesley

“A morning of delicious food and stories”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

Taste Carolina arranged a special Carrboro/Chapel Hill walking tour for us on a Wednesday (usually on a Saturday). Our guide Susan was fabulous - so nice, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and took us to great places. We were given food/drink samples at every stop and really got to taste some things we would not have found on our own. The walking part was quite minimal so don't count on it for your day's exercise, but the choice of stops was interesting and well chosen. We all enjoyed it very much, and next time we visit the area we will definitely do another of their tours.

“Carrboro/Chapel Hill walking food tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

Wonderful, highly recommend. Meagan our guide was great. Not only did we get history lessons of Carrboro and Chapel Hill, but also most of the food/drink stops. Each stop was ready for us with samples and stories. Could not have been better. Great stops at the Farmers Market. Who knew NC wine could be so good, well Benjamin Vineyards knows what they are doing. Thank you and we'll do this again and again. Lucky there are several tour stops in the triangle.

“Taste of Carolina Food Tour Chapel Hill Carrboro”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2012

This was our 2nd food tour with Taste of Carolina. We did one in Durham and one in Chapel Hill. I'd love to do them all. Our first food tour was in Greenwich Village, NYC last August and I have to say these tours are just as good as the fantastic one we had in NYC. Our whole family enjoys them, including our two older teenagers. It is great for families with older kids, business groups, out or town guests. The food is fabulous, the guides are energetic, and you learn all kinds of things about local speciality restaurants and foods. Plan to walk, although the pacing is good. Highly recommend Taste of Carolina!

“Fantastic Vacation Memory”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2012

The tour was excellent from beginning to end. Our guide, Jen, was engaging, informative, and was very good at getting a feel for our small group and keeping things interesting, fun and enjoyable. Our 3 hour walking tour seems short because of the fun we were having, but when I think back on all we got to experience, I don't how we managed to experience it all in 3 hours! At each stop we got great information from passionate folks who loved what they were doing. It was contagious. I knew we were only getting samples, but they were generous--come hungry! From cheeses from cows raised on a family farm to pecans to chocolates to designer salad to home made pastrami to premium Indian food to craft beers to cafe roasted beans, it was impossible to pick a favorite stop. It was like spending the afternoon with with your friends, even though my husband and I didn't know anyone else in the group. My husband and I can't wait to come back to this area for another visit and try another one of their tours!
