Attended training at UNC and stayed at the Sheraton. The hotel is off campus with approximately a 10 minute ride to where I was going on campus. I tool the shuttle everyday which was really nice. I scheduled my transportation in advance for every morning and afternoon. Breakfast and a restaurant are on site. Didn't really see anyone eating breakfast although they had a nice breakfast area. However, I did partake in the free Starbuck's coffee in the lobby every morning. The restaurant there was ok. Nothing fancy. I did have the opportunity to attend the Manager's Reception on Wednesday but again, nothing fancy. While not far from grocery, store shopping center and places to eat, the hotel is not in a walkable area with easy access. But again, there shuttle service. They do have a nice gym. Wasn't impressed with the hallways but the rooms were very nicely decorated on the inside. I loved my bed. Nice bedding accessories that may the stay awesome. Staff was friendly and provided assistant. However, my fridge did not seem to operate properly and no lockboxes available.

During our spring break, we took our son down to visit Elon University and the University of North Carolina. We stayed at the Sheraton Chapel Hill during our visit. What a fabulous choice! It was in a perfect location with great amenities and was a spotless hotel. Thank you to the staff for your warm and friendly hospitality. We will definitely be back again when we are in the Chapel Hill area.

The room was very comfortable and clean. The exercise facility had a great a variety of equipment. Remember to bring your ear-buds because each machine has its own screen & if you want to listen while exercising, you will need those. The breakfast was expensive so we didn't eat there. The hotel was easy to find and see from the road, but it was a little difficult to navigate getting to it. Just watch signs carefully to get on proper road.

Middle of the road Sheraton. Staff was adequately friendly. I stayed one night; arriving at 11:30pm and leaving at 8:30am. I wanted a Sheraton Sweet Sleeper bed and a shower, and this hotel satisfied both requirements swimmingly.

As noted by other reviewers, the gym was surprisingly spacious and well equipped.

The Sheraton, Chapel Hill is on the north side of 15-501. The Marriott Residence Inn, where I usually stay, is on the south side of 15-501, almost directly across the street-freeway. I stayed at the Sheraton for two nights. Here is the comparison.

Price: About the same. The Sheraton is a little cheaper, at $100, than the Marriott, which can range rrom $115 to $140.

Rooms: The Sheraton has rooms, the Marriott has suites with sofa bed and full kitchen.

Lobby and other stuff:

The Sheraton feels a bit cavernous with under-utilized space. At the same time, its gym is better equipped than the Marriott's, with treadmills with individual t.v.s and a small separate weight room. Free water bottles, towels, just off lobby.

The Marriott's gym is small, about half the size.

Pool:
Both have pools. The Marriott's is far better especially if you have children. It is in the center of a courtyard surrounded by rooms. The Marriott's also has a good BBQ area. The Sheraton pool is nice but smaller. No BBQ facilities.

Amenities:

Sheraton has a better and bigger bathroom with good amentiies. Marriott bathrooms are just weird: small, dark, awful lightbulbs and door that sometimes bump into the toilet when you open them.

Snacks: Marriott has a snack center that sells beer, wine, snacks, etc. None at Sheraton. Marriott also has free coffee/tea 24/7; none at Sheraton.

Breakfast: Both offer free breakfast. Both are the usual fare. Marriott's breakfast center is just off the pool , and in good weather you can eat it out there. Sheraton's breakfast center is more civilized and food is better. No Uber-family reunions, at least when I was there.

Coffee: Marriott has awful in room coffee, Sheraton has B- Starbucks coffee.

Unbelievably, your ultimate destination in CH may determine whether you stay in the Marriott or the Sheraton. Getting from the northbound side (Sheraton; toward Durham) over to the southbound side (Marriott; toward CH) and vice versa requires Mensa-level navigation skills and nerves of steel at rush hour.

Noise level: I slept like a baby at the Sheraton. Marriott rooms have weird noises that go bump in the night. Since I almost never sleep in hotels, this was a huge bonus.

When I see Sheraton, I think "adequate". The Sheraton, Chapel Hill surprised me. Folks were friendly and helpful and the room was spacious with a nice wing back chair. Bathroom was clean and nice and the room had lots of lamps. It's hard to keep my pre-conceptions when they fool me like this.

Room Tip: Elevators are noisy. Avoid rooms near them!

One of our rooms had three problems, all minor but didn't speak well for the hotel's maintenance program. However, we all got a good night's sleep as the beds were excellent and the hotel is in a quiet area (if not all that convenient to downtown/UNC). Staff seemed a bit un-polished by industry standards but were helpful enough. Fitness center is small; the limited selection of equipment is in good condition.
