“Rooms need maintenance help. Big time.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2010

First, the interior of the rooms in terms of bedding etc. WERE TOP NOTCH. Good quality sheets, etc. The room itself however needed some repair. The entertainment center was missing hardware, the coat rack was missing coat hooks. Parts of something were laying on the vistors guide to the hotel. Bathroom leaked, some cracks in the sheetrock. Maybe I just got a bad room. The common areas of the hotel were still very nice but overall the place looked like it needed a good cleaning and updating. Lots of big overstuffed gold leaf furniture everywhere...the reviewer who said that this hotel had a "Vegasy" feel hit the nail on the head. It was not a bad hotel but if I paid the full published rates I would not have been very pleased. The hotel food services (bar, etc.) are very expensive, but you are within easy driving distance to a number of great restaurants and the Chapel Hill bus (which is free, safe, and very clean) stops outside and the hotel has a free shuttle to downtown.. I would not spend time hear to eat. There is no pool, no gym. Basically this is a very nice place to sleep. The business center was in an old hotel room. The bathroom to the business center was an old hotel bathroom with piece of PLYWOOD laying on top of the tub so you would not try to get in the tub while you were in the business center. Bizarre.

As stated, not many frills at all. No pool, no exercise. But we both loved it. We got this hotel on Hotwire, and while that made the price nice, there were some consequences of that which bugged us both. I had seen lots of reviews here and elsewhere on the great free breakfast spread. But when we checked it out, we were told that our rate didn't offer the breakfast. Kind of mean... We also noticed all 3 days that in the morning everyone had a newspaper in front of their doors except us. Hmmm. Not a huge deal, but it definitely left us feeling less important than the other guests.

Aside from that, the rooms are gigantic, and extremely comfortable. The bathroom had a nice tub surrounded by some kind of neat soapstone or something. Definitely Italian-like. And cotton balls and q-tips! I've never seen that in any class hotel. There was a small fridge under the sink in the bathroom.

The wireless Internet was free and very powerful. Maybe we were lucky that there was an access point right outside our front door.

Aside from the "class" treatment, it was a real nice stay and I'd definitely stay again. BTW, Hotwire rated this as a 4 star. I would definitely call it a 3 or maybe a 3.5 star at best.

We just returned from a Holiday trip to the Sienna and a UNC basketball game. Our room was very spacious and included two windows and two balconies. We received a great rate which included breakfast. The staff was exceptional, especially Chris at the bar and Nate at the fron desk. We would definitely stay here again when in CH!

Stayed 1 night and only paid $99 for one of the best rooms I have ever had. The hotel even provide a free ride in to town. Breakfast was included and was very nice. Staff very friendly. Try the restaurant called Crooks Corner. Shrimps and grits really good.

We have stayed at the Siena several times and usually enjoyed it. It has a European atmosphere, rooms are comfortable, restaurant is excellent. This year we went to their evening Thanksgiving dinner for the second time. Meal was Italian and delicious. But outside in the parking lot was a large food service truck which ran loudly all night (probably to provide for the all-day meals). In addition, there were barking dogs on our floor. I mentioned this to the desk clerk the next morning and he immediately gave us our room free. Buffet breakfast was pretty basic, could have used a few more choices. A fitness room would be a nice addition. I would still recommend the Siena, but ask about dogs.

We had a business appointment at the university & were trying to stay within a company expense account. When I called to inquire about rates, Nate was extremely helpful in researching options for us. At check in, Nate again was awesome, inquiring about any needs, dining options, and transportation details. He makes you feel very special!

The room is good sized, decent furniture, comfortable bedding, linens and towels. I agree that the t.v. doesn't match the rest of the room & needs to be updated. The complimentary wireless is a nice touch, along with the free parking.

Turn down service is always a nice touch, too. We didn't use it, but were offered chocalates & who can turn that down?

We were a little disappointed with dinner. We had eaten there before & been pleased. Maybe this was an off night or we ordered the wrong thing.

In summary, we were pleased with the quality & didn't feel ripped off by the price. By far, the best was the service. We will be back.

Before staying at the Siena we do what most people around the world do and read up on the trip advisor reviews, we were a bit worried about staying here after some of the comments.

After arriving at the Siena and being greeted by the lovely Bell man ourworries went out of the window, the hotel is a stunning place, Very Italian. Having been to nearly the whole of Italy myself they truly have done a wonderful job on re creating a little slice of Italy in North Carolina.

Check in was swift, we were showed to our room, which was massive and very comfortable.
OK the Fridge in the bathroom is a little odd, but it's not that off putting.
Nice Bathroom- Clean towels every day.
Lovely staff that cannot do enough for you.

We have to mention one of the ladies that work at the Siena, Her name is Emma- she works in the mornings for breakfast, She is a wonderful lady, very helpful, again cannot do enough for you. We had a good chat with her most mornings!

The food in the evening is very good as is breakfast and Lunch.

Their is a free car service that takes you around a 5 mile radius, which is a nice touch.
I was actually glad the hotel was in the position that it's in, OK it's not walking distance to anything apart from a few small gas stations but that was kind of OK.

If you want a mall their is a huge one at Southpoint- around 20 minutes away.

Also the Siena has Free Internet which was an added bonus considering every other hotel charges $10

Fitness centre is free to guests over the age of 18 which is across the street.

On a whole the Siena hotel is a delightful place to stay we will be returning should we find ourselves back in NC.
