This casual relaxed, yet refined atmosphere is enhanced by the renovated farmhouse facility. The menu offered a wide variety of " mountain" dishes, including the ubiquitous fresh mountain trout prepared in several creative ways. My wife chose a regular menu item--the Orchard Chicken, which featured a filet of breast meat wrapped around an apple before baking, then dressed with a light apple and pecan sauce complimenting the crispy outside. A delicious and unusual preparation. I chose one of the specials, a pan-seared Berkshire pork chop perfectly cooked, and covered with a shiitake mushroom sauce. Both our entrees were accompanied by the "house" sides, which included a corn & blackeyed pea salsa, sautéed, julienned zucchini and roasted wedges of local apples. Also, a mound of velvety smooth house-made mashed potatoes were so tasty, my wife likened them to a little "pre-dessert treat". Our server was quite helpful, prompt, and quite courteous. The Orchard will definitely be on our list of musts when we return to this area.
