Description: It's a BBQ restaurant on the highway between Cashiers and Highlands, NC. (I think they refer to it as "The Cashiers Highway." There aren't many places to eat -- kinda rural and mountainous, but this restaurant has big signage and located right on the highway. The card I picked up said "Rob & Tammy Williams, with ph no. 828-743-3200, fax 828-743-9770

“Bad customer service”

They don't let you substitute sides. It's not about the customer, it's about what's easiest for them. Mediocre food.

“Welcome to the Mountains. Now, Eat!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

They get them in and get them out at this roadside barbecue joint on the edge of town in Cashiers, North Carolina. Dining among the expired license tags from it seem every state (we've been eyeing them for years) the service is quick and the food consistently very good. This is good North Carolina barbecue. Portions are a healthy size and delicious. Whether you get the sandwich or naked Q, you'll likely enjoy pork or beef and the usual sides - slaw, fires, O-rings, beans, toast, and corn on the cob. Ending with cobbler will stuff you beyond reasonableness.

Although they offer burgers, I recommend you stick with BBQ beef or pork. NC laws require burgers to be cooked to a point that I just can't find a decent hamburger up here anymore. But, at the CS, the burgers will pass. Nevertheless, you'll likely fair better with barbecue.

Locals and weekenders alike have enjoyed the smokehouse for years, and their consistent effort continues.

Best of all, this is probably the best value in the Cashiers/Sapphire valley area. Large plates of food that don't break the bank. Good for families or a quick bite on the way to your next adventure.

“delicious BBQ at a great price!”

My family and I eat at this restaurant every time we visit NC. You can't beat the ribs for flavor or price! The service has always been good, even when it's busy.

Good Service. May be crowded in summer but great off-season. Very good. Onion rings unbelievable. Service excellent.

“Greasy spoon”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

Very greasy food. Not all bad, just not very good. The atmosphere is fine for a barbecue place, and the restaurant under former ownership generally had consistently good barbecue. No longer true under present ownership.
