It's expensive, but a real treat! Relaxed, beautiful setting, quiet, everything to perfection. Cary is an old Southern village, turned high-end by the tech industry. Enjoy.

“World class”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2012 via mobile

Visited the umstead on my way to fla for the winter. The restaurant (and the hotel, btw) are both extraordinary experiences. Being a sour traveler, i can be very critical. This place gets it. Be prepared to drop some dough, but you will not feel ripped off at all.

“kobe beef alone was worth the money.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2012

had an amazing 5 courses with wine. All courses but dessert were far beyond expectations! The Kobe beef was like nothing I've eaten before. If meat can melt then this did. This is a special occasion place. The wine selection was amazing and the staff friendly and professional. If I could change anything it would be dessert. For that number of stars it didn't match up to the other courses.

“Herons @ The Umstead is worth the trip.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2012

Holiday luncheon with my employees. Staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. Food was excellent and beautifully presented. Wine was delivered without delay. All in all, an excellent choice of restaurants for any occasion. Reasonably priced entrees for such a great restaurant. Noise level was somewhat excessive for good conversation. Well worth trying with that special person.
