Yummy food, great wait staff, comfortable outdoor seating. Only negative is that the menu had limited vegetarian choices

“Awful service, mediocre food”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2012

We decided to try Havanna after reading that it offered "fine food" from the owners of the condo we are renting. We arrived and were seated right away only to wait about 10 mins for the server to arrive at our table. The entire dining experience consisted of lots of waiting, an insincere and aloof waitress, and disappointing food. She forgot to bring us our salads and soup as our first course. The salad was awful but my husband said his soup was decent. My husband and I both ordered the "Ahi tuna" and asked it be cooked medium rare. It was completely cooked through and dry. The orzo pasta was cold. The only pleasant part of the meal was the corn served with our meal. I had to approach the hostess to ask our waitress to bring us our bill at the end of the meal. We overheard the server at the next table being very apologetic about the slow service, thanking them for coming, etc. Our server never acted like our having to wait and wait was at all a big deal. I would absolutely NOT recommend this restaurant. Don't waste your time and money.

“Average”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2011 via mobile

The place was cute. Short walk from hotel... My husband loved his pasta dish it was amazing!!!!!! North end pasta. I ordered a crab cake.. The waitress said they were know for their crab cakes when I asked if they were filled with more crab than cake. I got more cake than crab :( it tasted good but for 18 bucks I expected more crab.

“Don't expect great food here.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2011 via mobile

We went to Havanas last year while staying at Carolina Beach. The food was mediocre at best and the service was slow. We thought we might have caught them at a bad time after reading some of the trip advisor reviews. The seafood was awful - scallops with hard, crusty edges that had to be cut away, crab that was mushy from being overcooked, and the fried calamari appetizer was about 90 percent breading. When you pay $24 for an entree, you expect a bit more than this... If you want good seafood, go elsewhere. If you want pleasant, attentive service, go elsewhere. We won't be giving this place a third chance.

“Sunday brunch = breakfast buffet”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2011

The Sunday Brunch is really just an ordinary breakfast buffet with a few lunchy add-ons, albeit with great French toast. With a name like Havanna I suppose i was expecting something a bit more Cubano/exotic, but what was there was decidedly Southern/American: shrimp and grits, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, eggs benedict, pasta, chicken, fruit and pastries. A good selection to be had, for sure, and of pretty good quality, given it was a buffet, but that's that. The restaurant is located in one of the older houses in Carolina Beach with an interesting garden and a quaint interior.
