Quiet moments, cool breezes, love of family and friends. Mountain Springs was the right place at the right time for our first family reunion. Located close to all types of activities for both young and older, but remote enough to allow you to escape into their peaceful world to recover from the day.
Help from Kate and her staff allowed us to have maybe or best vacation ever. As a group, we decided that this would be a great place to return to.

This was our first trip to Asheville--our original goal was to visit Biltmore Estate. Then we found Mountain Springs. Our daughter and son-in-law joined us. We were only able to be there the nights of May 20-22 but we all had a wonderful time. We liked the cabin, but if we are able to come back it will be not just for the cabin, the restfulness, the music of the stream and the relaxation but also because of Kate, the proprietor. She gave us helpful information about the area and was so warm and pleasant. She almost felt like family.

My husband, another couple and I visited Mountain Springs for a 3 night stay in May. Our friends arrived before we did and called to tell us how to get there, they had all ready talked with the owner and said she was very friendly and that the place was wonderful. We arrived late (about 11:00pm) so it was dark, we had a very hard time finding our cabin, we drove around the property 2 times before our friends had a come out of the cabin and flag us down. Even though we drove around at night, it was still wonderful seeing what we could see; the stone walls around the drive way, the flowers our head lights shined on, the water that we could hear and the cabins that we could see. I couldn’t wait until morning. The cabin we stayed in was the “firefly” it was very charming with the antiques and country fabrics. We had everything we needed. We stayed on the first floor and our friends took the loft. We actually slept with the doors open and the screens locked, I haven’t done that since I was a little girl. After a good’s night sleep we got up and walked around the property. We found a cherry tree in the front yard of the office and enjoyed wonderful full red ripe cherries just picking them and putting them straight into our mouths. What fun!!! We went back to our cabin and sat on the back porch and enjoyed the water. We were also entertained with some chickens, and turkeys that were on the other side of the water. I know this is going to sound boring, but we started watching 2 snakes that were swimming in the water for about 2 hours. Time was just standing still and talk about stopping a smelling the roses, well it was just fun yelling “I see one, oh my God look!!!” Anyway we had a wonderful time, the things I can say that I didn’t like was; at one point the cabin got hot and we turned on the air conditioner which didn’t help at all we felt like it was too small to do the trick, and the drawer in the kitchen was broken and each time we pulled it out the thing almost fell on us. I would go back anytime; the place was just a relaxing involvement and still close enough to visit sites that you want to see. We went to Asheville and Mt. Pisgah Inn and ate at the restaurant there, very good and what a view…..

The cabin that we had was oversized for our needs, but that was great. We grilled and ate outside every night. Many of the cabins are on a stream or very near. The cabins are off the beaten path and about 20 minutes away from downtown Asheville and the Biltmore estate, but that's okay since being in a rural area adds to the enjoyment of the vacation. Take some time and read the books that they have laying around the cabin. Play horseshoes or other activities. Also, there are some friendly barn cats and some rural antiques that would thrill the American Pickers.

We stayed at mountain springs cabin for a recent trip to Ashville. The grounds were beautiful and the cabin (we stayed in the Potting Shed) was spotless and soooo cozy. Our main reason for going to the Ashville area was to see the city and the Biltmore estate, so I was a little concerned about the drive into the city every day, but the drive was only 15 - 20 minutes and very easy. The setting in the mountains, with the stream going through the property, was so relaxing after a day of sightseeing. The staff was extremely helpful and provided printed directions to the major attractions and recommendations for places to go. We would go back in a second and plan to.

When winter storms and cold temperatures in northwest Ohio make us yearn for summer, we're anxious to make our reservation for another enjoyable week at Mountain Springs. It's a highlight of our year, and 2010 will bring our 13th stay along the stream! Some years we've come with our daughter and her family, and other times we've come alone. We've stayed in five different cabins and explored lots of the surrounding country. Every stay has been wonderful!! When our granddaughters last came in 2007, they loved the play area, the ducks, tubing in the stream, the porch swings, and being able to walk up the hill by themselves to visit Grandma and Papa. They still talk about "when we all went to the mountains." When there are just two of us, we spend some days just relaxing at the cabin, soaking up the quiet and beauty. We appreciate having a grill right out the back door and a well-equipped kitchen to prepare the fresh produce we find at the North Carolina Farmers' Market in Asheville. Other days we explore the countryside; Kate has given us some great suggestions. There are the annual favorites, like the Folk Art Center, shopping and eating in Asheville, and standing in the spray of waterfalls up on the Blue Ridge Parkway. But every year we discover one or two new places, always within easy driving distance of Mountain Springs. Our cabin is always thoughtully decorated and clean--the staff always helpful and friendly. The music of the stream is the last thing we hear at night and the first thing we hear in the morning. It doesn't get any better than that!

This was our third stay at Mountain Springs Cabins. We had such wonderful memories of our other stays that we chose to celebrate our 20th anniversary back here and were definitely pleased that we did. We only wondered why we had waited so long! It was very hard to leave the beauty and serenity of the area. The cabin itself was very clean, cozy and romantic. It was the same one we had stayed in on our first visit, yet definitely did not seem to be 20+ years old. We loved be able to view the gas fileplace from the comfortable bed. The towels were thick and plush - perfect for after the jacuzzi. The grounds themselves are so pretty and restful. We enjoyed sitting and having a glass of wine by the stream, while watching the the ducks swimming and foraging for food. There are horses and chickens on the property across the stream and a cat on the cabin grounds who loves attention. Far from being bothersome, they just add to the experience.

The cabins are removed from the bustle of Ashville, yet are close enough to be convenient to most of the sights and hiking trails. We already knew that cabins are quite close to a back entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway and a nearby waterfall enroute. Restaurants and two grocery stores are a short distance away. Kate (proprietor) cheerfully shares her knowledge of the area . Books, movies, coolers are available to borrow and popcorn is free. Bonfires stream-side (subject to the area's burning bans) can be arranged. If children are not content to wade in the stream or explore the grounds, there is an open area with some play equipment for them. There is no cleaning fee. You are just asked to leave the kitchen counters clean and the dishes put away - common curtesy, I would think,

If you want a simple, nice place to relax in or to come 'home' to, this is the place.
