“Excellent place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

Super amenities, beautiful spacious rooms, comfortable beds, super clean, flat screen TV's, movie theater if wanted, magnificent views, military friendly, wonderful staff and the food was very good. If you are in this area, and this is your price range, this is THE place to stay.

Room Tip: All rooms face the Sound. Your preference if you like upper or lower rooms. All are nice.

We selected this place based on the reviews available in TripAdvisor and we loved it. We stayed in their Jasmine room which has their bigegst balcony to have a great view of sound. This room also has private big jacuzzi. Rooms are big and clean. They have 14 seat home theater and also, a collection of around 1800 DVDs. They provide kayak, canoe, beach accessories etc. We loved canoeing on the sound which was so peaceful. Their breakfast is amazing. Staff is very nice and helpful.

Room Tip: Try inn Kayak at Pamlico Sound.

We stayed here for our honeymoon this past week and had a wonderful time. The Inn is at a beautiful soundside location. Our room had amazing soundside views. The staff was very very friendly and helpful. They had excellent suggestions for places to visit. The chef at the restaurant is fantastic-- loved the food-- breakfast comes with staying at the Inn and we had dinner there one evening. We highly recommend the Inn. The location was perfect for accessing the ferry to Ocracroke, visiting the Hatteras Lighthouse, Hatteras seashore, Pea Island, etc. Don't miss the Old Gray House-- a delightful shop in Bruxton. We intend to return often.

Room Tip: We loved the soundside view room that we stayed in.

I'll start by saying I had made a small error with our booking which meant we arrived one night early - the hotel was booked up but the team helpfully found us another location nearby and all in all made me feel less foolish about my mistake and this set the tone for our stay proper with excellent service and personal touches like a guided tour around the property on check in (and freshly baked cookies) . eventually we spent 2 nights here in the Perriwinkle room at the end of March and loved our stay. The Inn itself is a little out of town so be prepared to drive if you want dinners away from the Inn, although once you see the location directly on the Sound you may not want to think about leaving! It was still slightly cool when we were there so we did not use the pool although we did sit outside with books enjoying the view.

Our room was very light and pretty with 2 huge windows which faced west and south giving great views over the water and dock as the sun set. The bathroom was well equipped although the bath could have been slightly bigger. Room came with big fluffy dressing gowns and a well stocked complementary snack box which we thought was a nice touch. Some reviews have mentioned that the rooms are very noisy but we did not find this at all. Walking down the landing you could here other rooms TVs but not once in our room at all. Our TV also had an integrated DVD player which allowed us to take advantage of one of the DVDs in the hotels 1800 strong collection. There was also a small cinema room we could have used but didn't.

Breakfast was included and was good on both mornings and served in the restaurant which again takes advantage of the wonderful views.

We had an amazing trip to the Inn at Pamlico Sound! The Inn provided the ultimate relaxing weekend. The food was amazing, the Inn was clean and well kept, the rooms were spacious and welcoming, and the staff was so friendly and kind.

We stayed here last week as a gift to each other for our 10th anniversary. The inn is very clean and comfortable. The staff is warm and friendly. The views Of the sound are the best! We spent the first two nights in the Sea Oats room. We reserved our stay online and there was some sort of computer glitch with the online reservation system. It did not let the innkeepers know that we asked for breakfast in our room the next morning. Once it was called to their attention, they bent over backwards to bring us a delicious breakfast with sincere apologies. The next evening, my husband realized the same thing happened with the flowers, chocolates and dinner that he reserved for that night. I can't begin to tell you how quickly they jumped into action. They were unable to provide dinner because it was too late when they discovered the problem. However, they did tell us about local restaurants. Just as an aside, the one we picked was blah. We went to dinner and when we returned there was a gorgeous bouquet of roses and lilies as well as delectable chocolates and cupcakes waiting in our room. The room was candlelit and very romantic. The next morning, the innkeepers told us that we were going to be credited one night stay. We were also credited for the dinner. The chocolates and candlelight were credited as well. There just isn't hospitality anywhere like this. Breakfast comes with your room and we had very delicious food while we were there. Our last two nights were in the periwinkle room. I only wish we had felt better. We both ended up getting sick. But the folks at the inn made us feel as comfortable as possible. We live in Ohio but we certainly hope to be able to come back to The Inn on Pamlico sound again. I just can't say enough about these wonderful people, the beautiful accommodations and laid back atmosphere here! Thank you!

My first experience with IOPS was back in 2008 when my brother and his now wife got married. I did not stay at the inn but, I thought it was beautiful and looked forwarded to someday staying there. I got my chance this March when my brother and his wife had thier baby's dedication there. The place was as I remembered it but, better. The service was good and everyone was very nice. They always had snacks, drinks and goodies sitting around the B&B for there guests to use. The breakfast was excellent and had a alot of options to chose from. The rooms were great, very clean and roomy. The only compliant that I do have is the bed. Now, I did sleep on a pull out couch - not a regular bed at the inn but, the pull out bed was awful. It was lumpy and really thin. My mom had a good idea of putting pillows underneath the mattress and that did help. In the end though, I should not have had to do that. I did let the front desk lady know and she said that they will look into replacing the mattress.
So, not to end on a bad note - I left my pillow there and they sent it to me in the mail right away and did not charge me for any shipping. I thought that was a very nice gesture.

We covet the feedback of our guests, and validate where and when we have not measured to the standards we set for ourselves, for our guests. In preparation for opening this spring, our staff made a number of furniture changes concurrent with new oak floors and other decorating and expansion improvements in our West building. .

Several "chair and a half" pull out love seats were put into rooms with original manufacturer's cushion mattresses on them. They are indeed lumpy, and rather thin. Replacements for them have been ordered but not yet received.

We guarantee the satisfaction of our guests, and failed to deliver it to one. We apologize to the guest who experienced a less than satisfactory night's sleep on one of these love seat pull outs, and ask that they please get in touch with Steve Nelson, CEO and General Manager.
