“Great place to stay! friendly owners andclean rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2009

My wife and I stayed here for the first time in August 2008. This is an older facility with very nice owners and clean rooms. We rode motorcycles in the area and woke up the first morning to find our bikes had been covered to keep the moisture of them for a quick start to great riding in the area. We'll be visiting again, for sure.

Chad, Kathy, and "the girls" are a delight! This motel is a gem to stay at. It is at the top of the hill with a beautiful view. It has a great pavillion with patio furniture and a fire pit. The pool is very refreshing and clean. 'Jake' is a hoot and will make sure everything you need is taken care of! Great motel for bikers! (special rates) Thanks Chad and Kathy....We WILL be back! Rooms were nice and clean. The neighborhood is crazy safe. The view is absolutely stunning.

The value was fantastic. The price of the rooms allows for more fun money :-)

We have stayed at the ridgetop two times in the past year and love it. The owners are very nice, room was clean and the view was spectacular! My family has stayed many places and this is one of the best! Like the idea of staying at a privately owned motel that has a "welcoming" feel to it. Nice pool area and chairs and tables outside the rooms were nice. We also loved the landscaping and beautiful hanging pots to add to home like feel. Plan on returning soon and have recommended to friends!

My dad and I just completed a trip to NC with a simple agenda: spend ample time together, bike the Tsali trails (he's a mountain biker, I'm a poser), and drink copious local micro-brews. He found the Ridge Top Motel via a recommendation from a local friend, and we opted to stay the first two nights of our trip there. The owners were pleasant, and even offered a "mountain biker discount," making our nightly rate ~$49. Prior to our arrival, we called to confirm that a late check-in wouldn't be a problem, to which we were kindly informed that they would be available for check in until 11pm after which they would retire to their home (right next to the motel!). Our room was clean, two double beds, and was equipped with cable TV, in-room refrigerator, and free wifi. To be completely honest- the room/furniture was dated, and a bit small, but completely comfortable, and a bargain for the rate we paid. There's a small table and chairs outside the room, which was a fantastic setting for my dad and I to have a beer and look out at the mountain-views.

We spent the later evenings in the room, but our mornings/afternoons were away on the very nearby Tsali trails (this motel proved to be an excellent hub for our biking/river/scenic-drive activities). Maid service sufficiently straightened the room while we were away. Since we were travelling early in the season, we did not take full advantage of the motel's amentities- a nice outdoor pool, a gazebo with patio furniture and a firepit. The setting was extremely pleasant.

We were toying with notion of biking versus kayaking on the last day- a decision that would either require an additional night or a late check out. The owners had no problem giving us a few extra hours and the late check out.

I've read numerous hotel/motel reviews in the past, and it seems that people often forget that you're supposed to relax on your trips away from home. Remember to appreciate the bargain prices of your clean room, the nice, honest owners, and the spectacular scenery. We had a great time, and I look forward to staying there again!

We have been staying at this motel at least twice a year for more than 7 years. The current owners have done a great job keeping a pleasant, quiet atmosphere for families and bikers as was the case with the previous owners. We look foward to coming back each year and it's our number one pick of motels convenient to Deal's Gap, Cherohala Skyway, Blue Ridge Pkwy & Cherokee. Bryson City is a great, small, friendly town. The location of this motel allows us to walk into town and enjoy the great restaurants & shopping. We recommend this motel to all our friends and fellow bikers in the Raleigh area.

I saw the reviews of the Ridge Top Motel on Tripadvisor and suggested it to my party of 15 biker friends (middle aged men trying to relive their youth). We all rented rooms and I was some what disappointed upon arriving. The motel looked old and run down and check in took forever with the older man behind the counter not seeming like he knew what he was doing. The great view was mostly blocked by an out of business daycare and a large 18 wheeler hauling equipment. We were told that the owners of the motel had no control of the 18 wheeler and that they also wished that it would park somewhere else also. It was apparently on private land. Also we quickly learned that there were several full time tenates which is usually not good. However things improved for here. The rooms were old, like the motel, but clean and efforts had been made to keep them updated. The beds were very comfrontable and the motel was peaceful. The full time tenates were not an issue and everyone we meet was super friendly. The bottom line is that you can save money by staying here I only payed $148 for three nights, and get a good nights rest in a clean room. But this is not a new motel and it does lack certian things like shampoo in the shower and an employee on the property 24/7. Save money and sleep well but no frills.
