“Clean, cozy, and friendly place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

We will for sure stay again!! Love this place. GREAT LOCATION. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. I love that it is on the river. The owners are more than accommodating and super nice. Its a quiet, cozy, quaint place to stay in the mountains. Cannot wait to go back!

A group of us came to the mountains to ride motorcycles and stayed here a few days. While the rooms weren't updated, they were very "homey" and had an older style charm including a bricked in fireplace which added character. One downside is that there wasn't many outlets, none near the beds, for our phone chargers but since discovering the place was built in 1928 it was no big deal; we were still able to charge our phones! The place was very clean and the beds were comfortable! The patio area was great which was shared with all rooms; great commonplace to talk with neighbors. And the patio had a great view of the river. Each morning we awoke to find towels placed on our bikes so we could wipe off the dew and water spots. The morning of checkout the maid came to clean our room and we told her that we were running behind and she was very pleasant, smiled and said she would return later. Even after checkout, the manager still allowed us to leave our truck and trailer in the parking lot while we rode the rest of the day. Great experience! Will definitely return and bring more people!

We made a family trip to Bryson City to ride the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, and based on the reviews on tripadvisor, photos, and the price decided to stay at Lloyds. This was our first time to this area, and my parents had decided to go as well. We were not disappointed, the owners were very nice and courteous, the rooms were very clean, and the beds were very comfortable. The quilts on the bed were a nice touch, you just had that feel of being in the mountains. We loved the porch on the back, and to sit in the rocking chairs, listening to the river following, reading a book was just so relaxing. The kids loved to play in the back, throw rocks in the river, and look for fish. It is very quiet and peaceful there. We were only minutes from Bryson City, the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, Cherokee, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and we visited all of them. When we do go back and we will, we will definately stay at lloyds again!

I just got back from a very nice weekend of riding motorcycles in the mountains with my family. We rented two rooms at Lloyd's and were very pleased with the accommodations and the service. Rooms were clean and comfortable. We parked our bikes right in front and then enjoyed cigars and drinks on the deck overlooking the river. Very quiet location and close to great places to eat. We'll be back for sure!

We have stayed at this inn/motel many times over the last 20 years. We have so many fond memories here as we have spent as much as a week here when our kids were young several times. We have brought my parents here. We have not been back for at least five years but this past weekend could not find any accommodations near Sylva and Dillsboro and decided to try Lloyds again. It was below par the last time we stayed several years ago, but checked with trip adviosor and also found out there was new management.
As soon as we paid for our room the gentleman explained to us that in the room next to us there were " four Mexicans" that were in that room and had been there for 2-3 weeks working nearby. He assured us that they were very quiet and would not disturb us. I am not sure why this was NOT conveyed to us when the reservation was made so at that time I could make a decision about coming or not, but now I am here, and I know with peak weekend in the mountains I cannot find another place to stay. So we went to our room, which has not been updated in years, the carpet while I am sure clean seemed to be indoor outdoor. The one thing that had not changed was the wonderful view of the Tuck.... I love the whole feel of the river. But the whole inn shares the back porch and right outside our door were many dirty work boots that were kicked all over and a huge dirty water jug. We felt we would not be in the room enough to complain or for it to bother us so we let it go. We woke up at 6:30 am on Saturday to many people banging around getting ready for work. I have to say that there certainly seemed like a lot more that 4 people in the room next door. Again we were going out for the day, so brush it off.... I went to take a shower and there was no shampoo. I have again stayed there often over the years and always there was complimentary shampoo, as a matter of fact I have never stayed anywhere there was no shampoo. The bath really needs updating also, while clean, it is falling apart.
We came back later that evening and settled in. I will mention, the beds are very hard and uncomfortable also. The next morning, Sunday we were awoken again to even louder people heading out at 6:30 am. They spent about 10 minutes banging their shoes on the railing. When my husband looked out there was now a car in front of our room that was up on a jack with a tire missing.... We went out on the back deck to have coffee and discovered on our side of the deck a men's pain of underwear hanging to dry off the deck.
Of note also there is wi-fi but you have to sit outside by the pool to get a signal, there is no cell service there at all. It is kind of frightening to have such little communication in case of an emergency. They do have phones in the room though.
My husband did go to the office twice before we left to speak to someone and let them know about our concerns and there was never anyone there. It makes me really sad to write this review since I am quite sure I have written a good review years ago. We are sad that we will never be back.

Lloyd's on the River was the perfect place for a family to stay for a vacation. We received a great deal for our week stay. We used motel BBQ grill for a family day on the river again helping us to save money to visit Asheville and Cherokee. Management was attentive to our needs and the town was really friendly. You can even take a scenic train ride. Overall our stay produced many fond memories. We plan to stay there anytime we are in the area.

This is the worse place I have ever been.
The carpet is filthy, the rooms smell, looks nothing like the pictures( the river does) they should really send the photographer a tip. I really do not believe the comforter was washed....ever.
We went with a group and every room had a bad odor. The maid walked in on people never knocking. Had to knock on doors to find someone to check us in.
Just a really bad place to stay! page says restaurant but its not there.

We are sorry this guest was not happy with her stay. It's unfortunate she did not take the time to bring to our attention her concerns. We would have fixed the problem, moved her to a different room to her liking, or let her check out with no charges to her card. A hotel can not satisfy a guest if they don't communicate their concerns before they check out.

We will say, we shampoo our carpets on a regular basis, wash our bedspreads and check for odors. Our rooms have consistently been ranked as being exceptionaly clean on Trip Advisor. If you stay with us, you will be satisfied with the price, amenities, maintenance, friendliness of staff, landscaping, and how clean our rooms are. Our housekeeper Glenda, our maintenace man Tim, my wife Debbie and myself, Larry, will make sure you are satisfied or we will not charge you.

Thank You !
