“Great Food - Great Atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2014

Have an Angel Bagel for lunch. It's incredible! Then, about 3:00, when the blood sugar starts dropping, stop by for a cup of Black Widow coffee and a slice of the best Coconut Cake you'll ever have.

“Delicious!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2014

Mountain Perks is such a gem in Bryson City. We went in there just to get coffee, and almost 2 hours later, a wrap, 2 lox bagels, a smoothie and 4 cups of coffee we finally left. It's such a quaint little cafe to relax and enjoy everything Bryson City has to offer. The staff and the owner were quite friendly and were really helpful with offering suggestions with this to do in the area. The customers were really awesome too, we met the nicest older gentleman and an Elvis impersonator who were so friendly and a lot of fun to talk to. The decor is definitely awesome and the coffee is amazing, definitely a must if your in Bryson City.

“Lovely staff. Great breakfast.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2014

This place is awesome! Their tasty and homemade food is exactly what you're looking for before leaving for a day in the National Park. And staff is great! The owner was extremely friendly and nice. He stopped to talk with us and gave some great suggestions on what to see around Bryson City. He also gave us depliants and a map. It really made our day! The customers are locals and the atmosphere is great. Lovely lovely place. Oh. And we loved the "Hippies are welcome" poster ;)

“Unsanitary practices”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2013

We were just disgusted by this restaurant. The girl took our order and our money, and then went to prepare our food with no gloves on, putting her hands all over the bagels we had ordered. She also set our food on a cutting board right next to a wet, dirty rag and her pen and paper. The whole time we were there she continued to take people's orders and money and then prepare food. They obviously need a visit and some educating by DHEC. Besides this, it also took about 20 minutes to get a simple bagel with cream cheese, which I was too nauseous to eat at that point.

We are sorry that you feel this way about how we carefully prepare our customers orders. We as a NC state inspected restaurant make sure that each of our employees use the designated hand-washing station after every time they contact a non-food surface. The rag nearby was there to clean up our preparation area, you will be hard pressed to find a restaurant that does not have a rag nearby at all times. Our staff must multitask in out coffee shop, so they must take orders and then wash their hands and go back to making orders all day long. We are very educated when it comes to food safety and are ServeSafe Certified. When we take orders we prepare them in the order that they come in, as do most restaurants, this is most likely why your order took 20 minutes to make. Again, we are sorry that this was the impression you had during your visit and any inconvenience it may have caused.
