“Great Place to Stay When Riding the Polar Express”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2011

We had 13 in our group visiting Bryson City to ride the Polar Express in December. We booked four double rooms. Each suit had one king bedroom and another with two queens. The bedrooms were seperated by a dining, living-room area. The rooms are a bit sparse but priced accordingly. The satelite television was a bit problematic, but we had little time for tv. Our kids had a wonderful time on the playgound and playing around the waterfall. This is a great location away from the hustle and bustle of Bryson City, which can be quite busy during the Polar Express season. We really, really enjoyed our stay. The management of the Village Resort went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. That says a lot.

Room Tip: Great scenic views

Right from the reservations process to an early check out due to illness the service was equal to that of what one might find at a Ritz or W. The fireplace suite we had was very nice and we enjoyed the restaurant for a Thanksgiving buffet that was not only a very top notch meal, but conducted in such a fashion as to be very well managed. They called us in and seated us as one would for regular reservations so there was no real waiting line at the buffet tables. Everything was so professionally done. The property is a little dated and I understand they are renovating everything. I would love to go back and stay again when not sick.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. We have a 4 yr old and a 14 yr old and the staff recommended Creeksong. The moment we turned into the driveway and saw the cabin we were in awe. The pictures on their site do not do it justice. The creek runs behind the cabin and is breathtaking. Starting our mornings drinking coffee on the sun porch listening to the creek and ending our day sitting by the fire and relaxing in the hot tub . The owners have thought of every detail when they built this cabin. There's a game room which my husband enjoyed spending time with the boys, the outdoor fire pit was great for relaxing and roasting marshmallows, there are hammocks overlooking the creek and a great gazebo which we enjoyed having an evening glass of wine while listening to the rushing creek. There are lights all along the creek which is an amazing view at night. The cabin has everything you need and was spotless. I recommend staying here if your looking for some quality family time at a truly magical place. The Holbrook Family.

Room Tip: Creeksong is magical

Wow - what a fantastic wedding weekend. Our kids wanted to stay at Nantahala Village Resort & Spa to accommodate their wedding party and out of town guests and Nantahala Village did a fantastic job of doing just that. I am not completely sure how many people we had stay there but at least 50+ and they handled it beautifully. I was surprised to see another review for that weekend for a fireplace suite because we had at least (2) different parties staying there and you would have never known there were other people there as well. It was very important for the kids to have a bon fire after their wedding on Saturday evening to have a place for everyone to gather and the people at Nantahala set the whole thing up! Firewood/ Chairs/Cleanup (well our group did clean up after the Saturday evening fire but not because anyone asked us to) - it was perfect! We did our rehearsal dinner (for 80) at Thirteen Moons Restaurant on Friday evening and it was wonderful. The restaurant and staff is beyond fabulous! Jay and Carol and everyone there took fantastic care of us. We arrived early for the wedding weekend on Thursday evening and had the most unexpected treat - a beer tasting dinner at Thirteen Moons. This was not just any beer tasting dinner - the chef/owner James Reaux was there - what a treat to meet him and talk with him. We had lobster pot pie - ahi tuna tacos with a wasabi sauce - a few other incredible dishes but also a pork wellington as the main course and everything was paired perfectly with different flavors of Bell's Beer (thank you Nick) my new favorite beer by the way. Oh My Gosh - the dessert was to die for - separate dark and white chocolate creme brulee's served with a Porter beer. The Octoberfest flavor of Bell's (served earlier in the evening with the cheddar cheese soup) is the best we have ever had - but also highly coveted and sold out every year within weeks of it's arrival. I can't say enough about the restaurant - but back to the village. The mountain suites are wonderful - very big! My son (the groom) got a massage and hot stone treatment at the spa and said it was wonderful. Thank you Lucie and everyone at Nantahala for all your hard work - You've got a little gem there at Nantahala Village Resort & Spa. Oh by the way did I mention - it was peak weekend in the mountains too! Truly a perfect beautiful weekend!

Room Tip: If you need space and (2) bedrooms (2) baths - the mountain suite is great!

Our stay at the village was so wonderful. From the moment we checked in it was perfect. We stayed in a fireplace suite with a loft- it was beautifully renovated... You walk through the door into a large space, the sleeping area to the right beyond the bathroom and to your left a small kitchenette area with a mini fridge and microwave... Just a few steps past the sleeping area is the living room area with a 3 seater couch facing the electric fireplace and television... The stairs to the left of the living space lead up to the pool table in the loft area- very spacious and open with all the windows in the room- There is such a beautiful view of the rolling hills of nantahala right outside your room, and with the 4 windows and set of French doors out to your own private balcony it is a perfect sight to wake up to every morning. As you walk out to your private balcony, there is a 2 person hot tub (which is very clean and a perfect way to wind down after a day of hiking, zip lining, or relaxing) and also has an outdoor electric fireplace to cuddle up with the one you love and enjoy the scenery around you- even the day it was rainy, it was perfect to go outside to the hot tub and grab a glass of wine and relax... Hope everyone enjoys the lodge as much as my husband and I loved It-- just a warning, DO NOT GO ON THE HORSEBACK TOUR THAT THEY OFFER... The men that work it are less than friendly and was in fact extremely rude to us- after being belittled by him we chose to not even take the tour... Good thing, bc as we were leaving a family was coming back in after one of the women was bucked from her horse... We enjoyed going to the dillard house about an hour from there and riding through gorgeous scenery, wonderful guides, and we even went horseback through a river... Wonderful vacation- enjoy!!

Last night was truly an amazing dining event at the Thirteen Moons Restaurant!
The fabulous Chef prepared a delicious 6 course dinner and perfectly paired the Bell's Brewery Beers with each course. Nick gave us an education about all aspects of beer production and ingredients while wowing us with his amazing palette and knowledge about the complex flavors of the beers! The hosts for the night were gracious and welcoming as always! Our room in the lodge was beautiful and had awesome mountain views with the trees that were just bursting with fall colors! We had a great time!

Room Tip: Ask for the ones with a view!

We came for a wedding and rediscovered a resort and a gorgeous cabin named Between the Stream, appropriately named because it was situated between two peaceful little streams. The cabin was very clean, everything we needed was provided and we enjoyed a quiet time alone as this cabin was on the other side of the gorge from the resort. The wedding took place on the resort and was absolutely perfect. The setting was breathtaking, the food from the restaurant was delicious and the party on the deck afterwards was the perfect way to celebrate this occasion. We will definately return for more. Thank you Nantahala Village and your wonderful staff.
