“Awesome, Well Maintained, Year-Round Campground!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2009

I can now say I've camped at Ash Grove every season of the year! I was very hesitant about camping in the summer in North Carolina because I HATE hot weather. But my husband and I decided to give it a try, and of course we went back to Ash Grove for our fifth visit since last October. That may not sound like many times, but given it is a four in a half hour drive from our home, it simply means when you find the best campground around, it's worth the extra time in the car getting there. We had a wonderful weekend and the weather was surprisingly pleasant. The shady campsites which are located on the side of the mountain kept us comfortable in the daytime, and it cooled down nicely at night so we could enjoy our campfire. As always the hosts, Mark and Steven, made our stay extremely welcoming. They are always around if you need something, but allow you to enjoy the privacy the well kept campsites offer. The atmosphere of the entire property is peaceful, very clean, and serene. I highly recommend Ash Grove for couples as well as families. We're already planning a trip back in late September!!

“Ash Grove Resort is what every campground should strive to be.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2009

If you like camping with convenience, but without the crowds, Ash Grove is for you. The resort is divided into three sections - the RV area with gravel pads and hook ups, the cabin area and the tent area. The campground is not large and is therefore not crowded and does not become loud.

We are tent campers with small children. Ash Grove is wonderful because the tent sites are not stacked right on top of each other. The natural vegetation is still in tact around each of the sites. They are walk-in only via a nice mulched path with wheelbarrows provided to haul camping supplies. The sites themselves have a picnic table, fire pit and tent pad (not gravel). The sites are "primitive", but a very clean, well-stocked bath house is only a short walk away. Don't forget the flashlight for getting to the bathhouse during the night with the kids. There is no artificial lighting used in the tent area or along the path.

The owners, Mark and Steven, are wonderful hosts. They take the time to get to know each of their guests. They are very knowledgable about the area and happily helped us with directions and details to plan our days.

Brevard is a beautiful area with so many natural wonders to see and Ash Grove does a wonderful job of preserving that natural environment for it's campers. Ash Grove is the only campground that we have stayed at multiple times in our 15 years of camping and will continue to go back. We are looking forward to our next visit this September.

“Ash Grove is the most fabulous campground on Earth!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2009

My husband and I wanted a quiet place to get away, and somewhere that my elderly mother would be comfortable traveling with us to. The cabin we stayed in was clean and cozy -- my mother loved the cabin as well as the fire pit. She also enjoyed the company of Steven and Mark, who are remarkable hosts. She was at the beginning stages of Alzheimer's when we took her camping there, and both gentlemen took time with her to make her feel at home by walking with us and showing us around and visiting with us from time to time.

My husband and I have enjoyed the hot tub in the winter months, which is the only time it's available for use -- it is kept very clean and inviting, and it is not open to folks under 18 years of age. The bathhouse is right next door, and it is awesome! Clean and roomy, yet with plenty of privacy for tent campers who need to wash. There are other amenities available to tent campers too.

The trails are well marked and mulched. There are inviting spots next to small waterfalls to sit and just drink in the natural surroundings. The tent sites are scattered far enough apart that you feel as though you are out in the woods on your own. Several people were using the RV sites while we were there, and were very happy with everything according to their accounts.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. It is a spot of heaven on earth, and I highly recommend it!!!

“Our family LOVES Ash Grove Cabins!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2009

Our family has been to the Ash Grove cabins twice. We LOVED it both times and plan to go back again as soon as we can. The cabins are delightfully decorated and clean. The first time we stayed we were in the Woodspirit's Retreat. It was so relaxing to kick back and swing on the covered porch. Our daughter really enjoyed the fairies and elves that adorned the cabin. It was so much fun.

The second time we had more people with us and stayed in Ponderosa Pines where we could spread out and enjoy the large cabin. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and utensils and everything we needed. We all enjoyed the fireplace!

We always feel so welcomed by Mark and Steven. They really care about their guests and always check in to make sure you have everything you need. Ash Grove is one of our family's favorite places. We love the adventure of walking around the well maintained trails and going and visiting all the waterfalls. It's so beautiful and peaceful there!

“Family Friendly camping - many conveniences and owners who CARE!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2009

My family and I have camped at Ash Grove for 5 years... and were there last weekend for a WONDERFUL camping retreat. I am forever spoiled by the camping experiece we have at Ash Grove -- we camp in tents (cabins are also availalbe on the propety) that are nestled in beautiful, spacious sites that are private yet not remote... and the sites are not overused and dirty like many of the larger, public campgrounds. Mulched trails lead to the sites and wheel barrows are available for hauling all of our camping equipment to our site. Although there are some sites that are close to the parking area and bath house, we find it worth the haul to head on down the trails to a site that is a bit farther away and more private. There is a nice outside washing station for dishes, fresh drinking water, and a bath house (with WARM showers!) that always gets positive comments because it is kept so clean! I read a negative posting about the hot tub -- the hot tub isn't open in the summer due to thunderstorm actvity... it is mostly availalbe during colder camping months and a welcome warm spot for those who brave chillier nights. Plus, the hot tub is only for adults over 18 due to safety. My kids love Ash Grove and we meet the nicest people every time we go. I would rate this campground as very family friendly and a place that you will want to come to again and again. It's one of those places that feels like home when you pull into check-in and the parking lot where Steve and Mark check-in with you and begin their job of making your camping experience the best you can have!
