We found this restaurant a year ago and when driving back from Mt Pisgah today, decided to stop for lunch. It had been raining, but still pleasant, so we opted to sit on their inviting front patio underneath the awning. The setting is delightful.
I ordered the Coconut Curry Risotto with Jumbo Shrimp ($14) with asparagas and tomatoes. The enormous portion of risotto was cooked to perfection and the coconut curry sauce could not have been more delicious. There were a nice number of perfectly cooked, tender shrimp on top and enough diced tomatoes in the risotto to warrant adding them to the menu. The two or so 2 inch long grass like pieces of asparagas I managed to find in the risotto were not sufficient to add to the name of the dish. If you aren't going to add asparagas, don't say you are.
We also ordered the French bread with chimichurri olive oil ($2) which was interesting in flavor and texture and the bread was excellent.
Even though it was a very rainy Saturday, the inside of the restaurant was packed. The waitress took our order promptly, our food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, but once we were finished we had to wait a very long time for our bill and then again wait for her to come back to accept our payment. Maybe they were slammed inside.
All in all, it was a very favorable dining experience and I would certainly go back.
Oh, an important note: if you have a dog, it can sit outside with you as you eat on the patio.
