My husband spirited me away to Gideon Ridge for my birthday. It's an amazing place. The view is spectacular and the rooms very cozy. Afternoon tea (my husband's favorite) was lovely sitting in front of the fireplace and meeting new friends. The breakfasts are great and while you can splurge you can also stay on your eating plan without a problem. Dinner at Gideon Ridge's G restaurant was lovely. Great staff (thanks Ann) and friendly service.

Room Tip: The flat screen tvs in the rooms ( a new addition) were wonderful to catch up on a little bit of new...

This inn is tucked up in the mountains of Blowing Rock. It is an "old inn" very rustic yet classy. We stayed in the gradfather suite which had two bathrooms and a small balcony The room had an odd configuration. Again somewhat antique like but very clean. The breakfasts were good , not great, but we had dinner at the inn one night and it was superb. I would recommend you have dinner at the inn. There ia a huge porch that overlooks the mountains and the view there is spectacluar..I know there were snakcs in the afternoon but either we got down there too late or they just did not put them out that day. The town of Blowing Rock is worth exploring we took a ride on the Bluie Ridge Parkway to a park and there was a walking trail which was really nice. No need to stay there for more than two nights. staff was freindly but not super friendly. The week we were there I think was Octogenarian week since most of the guests were very old ...hence it was quiet maybe too quiet there.

My wife and I go to blowing rock at least once a year and usually stay at inn at ragged gardens. This year we decided to change it up as the reviews for Gideon ridge were great. The breakfast each morning was excellent, and Ann the innkeeper was very nice and helpful. The first night was great. Troubles started the next morning, when we attempted to take a shower and had no hot water. They fixed it in a timely fashion which impressed me. The second night and next morning were disappointing. Even though your beds get made and turned down in the evening it does not appear that your room is cleaned or fresh towels put in your room. Also the heat in our room quit working so the temp in the room fell below 60 degrees. The in room fireplace quit working as well. We asked that someone look at it while we were at breakfast and when we went back to our room it still didn't work. So it seemed as though they didn't check on it and dropped the ball. In my opinion for a two night stay to the tune of over $700 things should have been different. The breakfast was excellent and property had amazing views. However I do not believe that the breakfast and views are enough to bring us back. Especially for the price you pay with no heat and no fresh towels. Also forgot to mention that the temp outside hovered around 13 degrees and nearing 0 with wind chill. So no heat and no fireplace was not fun. We even checked out two hours early because of this!

Had arranged for a small group meeting at the inn. Everyone could not have been more helpful. Beautiful views. Quiet location. Just wish we could have had more time to enjoy the surroundings. Will need to come back and relax next time. Small touches meant we had a great meeting. Thanks Ann.

The Inn is located with a beautiful view. We were in the Sunrise room, a suite with a sitting area outside. The outside area is not covered so we could not enjoy it with the rain. Our room had a great view but the shower leaked like like crazy with a steady stream that never stopped. The room is next to the kitchen so noise happens if you care to sleep late. The internet does not work in that room but does in the main building, sitting area. Breakfast was good but could have been much better. The breakfast bar for a quality place like this was awful. I think had we been told of the leak, knew the internet did not work in our room and that breakfast was good, we would have been ok. They did reduce our bill by 20% which was a nice jester but having planned a quite weekend away for my wife's BD was just a bit below what I expected. They did provide a small bottle of Champagne and 2 chocolate covered strawberries for her. I will say the dinner there was excellent and the host was outstanding. Tea in the afternoon was also very nice so not a terrible experience but not a 10 either when it could have been. I would still recommend the facility.

Even in the worst of weather, the light is on, and you are welcomed in to a hot pot of tea, scones, and other treats! My husband and I came on a mid-January getaway. The weather was the worst that it could have been--fog and three days of pouring rain. As unfortunate as that was, our stay at Gideon Ridge Inn will always be a memorable one. We were treated as special friends by the staff, our room was beautiful and very comfortable, and the breakfasts served are by far the best I've had! We will definitely stay again, it is sure to become our favorite getaway destination! I can't recommend it highly enough!

Room Tip: We stayed in the smallest room, the French room, but it was just perfect for us: beautiful, spaciou...
