“Very nice but the rooms are tiny”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2014

This is a very beautifully redone older motel. The remodel was done nicely, beautiful exterior, nicely refinished old hardwood floors, nice tile in the bathroom, very comfy bed. But, the rooms are tiny. Barely room for a bed and two chairs. No dresser, the night stands are small dressers. There is a decent size closet but they put a frig and microwave and coffee maker right in the middle of the closet so it's hard to put much in there. Nice flatscreen on the wall.

The one other issue is that all the outlets in the room, except one in the bath are two prog so we had to charge laptops in the bathroom.

Breakfast was your typical continental, nothing bad, just nothing outstanding.

Location is an easy walk from main street, very nice location. It's on the bypass which is a bit busy during the day, but very quiet at night.

I'll be brief. The room was tiny. No room for luggage, no room for bathroom essentials. We were there three days, and housekeeping intermittently cleaned our room. The worst experience with them was when we came back to our room and found the sliding glass door and screen door (which opened directly on the back yard - we were on the first floor) standing completely open - who knows how long it had been that way. All of our belongings could have been stolen, or any sort of creature could have entered the room and joined us for the night. Ran out of white wine first night during the "wine and cheese reception" (cheddar cheese stick wrapped in plastic and some crackers)- apparently didn't want to go get another BOX from the store because they were out of it the second and third night as well. Second morning, ran out of regular coffee during the "continental breakfast" (bags of oatmeal, cereal bars, bagels, etc. with no help from the person on duty) at 8:00 AM and no move was made to secure more from either of the two "sister Inns" in the area - or the grocery store, for that matter. The receptionist the first night was great - warm, friendly, helpful. The other two days/nights very cold personalities, one disappeared from the reception desk for half an hour (outside with another employee) while the phone in the office rang and rang and I waited to ask her if our room was going to be cleaned that day at all. Unless the people in the bigger rooms or suites get better treatment than those of us paying only $100+ a night, there is clearly a terrible management problem here. Until this point our 2 week vacation was fabulous. After we arrived here, I wanted to go home after the first night but we had already paid and there were no refunds. Yes, the lobby is beautiful. Too bad everything else wrong with our stay overshadowed that lovely lobby.

Room Tip: To help you choose a good room - go somewhere else.

On arrival the problems started first the closet doors would not open and we had to find the maintenance man to get it open. I went to dinner and came back to the room around 10:30 pm to realize the drapes in both. The front window and patio doors were broke at the rod and would not close all the way, fortunately I had large paper clips to close then for some privacy as there was no one on duty as the office was closed. In the three day stay they never replaced or refreshed the 1 bar of soap for 2 guests, shampoo, Kleenex, or toilet paper. On the last day of my stay even though the breakfast area and lobby were scheduled to be open at 7:30am no one was there so. I had to go elsewhere and pay extra for an included breakfast, and come back for a receipt as this was a business trip and I must have a detailed receipt for my company. At what this stay cost the service should have been better. Next time in Blowing Rock I will stay way from the properties of this group, even if it means an extra 20 minuet drive to work in downtown, and I am there a minimum of 20 nights a year

We are sorry to hear that your stay was not up to your standards. Our office closes at 9 o-clock each night, but an after-hours number is given at check-in for any requests the guest may have. Again, we apologize for your stay, but hope we can make it up if you decide to visit again. We have a lovely, accommodating staff that is trained to provide our guests with the best experience possible.

I absolutely love this place. It is the perfect place for a weekend get away. My husband and I have stayed here twice on our anniversary. We walk to Twigs restaurant that is right beside of the Village Inn, to eat supper or just hang at the bar. Twigs is very pricey but it is delicious. Anyway back to the village inn it is very clean and the bed sleeps amazingly. I would highly recommend anyone to stay here!

Our daughter gave us a one night stay at this darling hotel....We entered the lobby with its massive fireplace and was greeted by a lovely young lady. She informed us that there was a FREE wine and snacks from 5:00pm to 6:00pm. Also, our breakfast was FREE....We entered a beautiful room with an attached side room housing 2 lounge chairs and a table and lamp so as not to disturb your other party if they were sleeping and/or watching TV.Our patio door invited us out to a beautiful brook with barbeques and tables along the brook. In our room was also a refrigerator and microwave. A 2 hour drive from Greenville, South Carolina...Next time we book, will stay a few days...room rates are reasonable....Factory outlet stores and darling boutiques and restaurants in the downtown area. I WOULD NOT recommend The Outback....I think their food fell into a salt shaker!!!!

Room Tip: All roons faced the brook in the back as far as we could tell....

We spent last weekend (March 28-30) in Blowing Rock. Since we had stayed at the Village Inn previously and know they have pet friendly rooms. We booked a room and, again, were delighted. The room was small, but plenty of room for us! We enjoyed having a patio out back so our Sophie could "do her business" without us having to get suited up to go for a walk!

The fact that there is a pathway to Twigs restaurant made it easy to walk to a nice dinner without having to brave the fog in the car

Our room was spotless and the beds were VERY comfortable.

We will be back!!

Room Tip: We've stayed in two different pet friendly rooms, both were great! Room 118 has a little sittin...

The property manager was very helpful with our reservation. She had no problem with us bringing two dogs, and the pet fee was reasonable. Unfortunately, the "fenced in back yard" is only partially fenced in. Some road noise and construction.
