“Simple, but good & plenty at reasonable price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2009

My wife and I ate at Woodlands on our recent stay in Blowing Rock, NC. We found Woodlands to be a simple, not fancy place to get decent BBQ. Smoked turkey is good as is the chicken. Total bill for the two of us ran about $28 including tip. It's family-style picnic table seating so don't be surprised to sit close to someone you don't know. Overall good pick and would recommend. crowded on Saturday night!

“OMG! I won't be fooled again!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2009

We thought that we had done our research but we were fooled into going to this awful place. We were encouraged by a full parking lot but once we were seated in the bare bones picnic table the ordeal began. The service was really really sub-par. We had to get up and go to the bar to get our own drinks. The food arrived and it was a mess. They obviously could care less about the food they serve. The BBQ was tasteless and the baked beans were Pork and Beans, right out of the can with raw onions thrown in. The whole plate was only just warmed over. We needed ketchup and after the server didn't bring it, we went to find it ourselves. After asking 2 other servers for it and receiving lost looks, I went to another table and asked the people there if I could use theirs. The live entertainment was enjoyable but they went from table to table begging for tips (we did leave the musician a tip ).

They do not deserve the ratings that they have received on other sites!

“OK, but we have had better”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2009

This did not taste like real bbq. The meat was very dry, the slaw was right out of a carton. We will not go back here. Server was OK.

“Awful...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2009

Not worth it. Not even if you are really, really in the mood for BBQ. Go to Sonny's BBQ chain... you'll get better tasting stuff. You can really taste the fake smoke they add to the sauce and the meat to give it that smoked over a hickory fire for hours, but you just can't substitute the real thing. I had to buy some BBQ sauce at a store to add to my chopped pork (wasn't chopped, just chunks of meat thrown on the to go plate). They gave enough sauce to barely cover one fork full of meat. The hot sauce was just that, hot no flavor. The regular sauce had absolutely no flavor. I had hushpuppies as one of my sides... heavy, mealy, tasteless and greasy.

Why do mediocre when you can do great?
