My husband and I visited the town of Blowing Rock while on our belated honeymoon and it has to be the best decision I ever made. Neither one of us are beach lovers, so we decided on a mountain destination. After seeing the movie "The Green Mile", I learned that some of the beautiful landscape scenes were shot near Blowing Rock (Moses H. Cone Memorial Park) and just knew I had to see it for myself. We stumbled upon the small, but gorgeous Sweet Season Bed and Breakfast located in the private sector of Chetola Mountain Resort (See Blowing Rock's Official Website). It was absolutely breathtaking, not to mention the hostess was the BEST (great cook, too). As for the town itslef, parking can be a hassle, but the local shops and restaurants are definitley worth the trouble. And if all this isn't enough to keep you satisfied, you can visit movie theaters in Boone and don't pass up the Mast General Store in Valle Crucis.
