“Nice overnight cut and stay for Christmas tree trip!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012 via mobile

We stayed here as part of a cut and stay package with a local Christmas tree farm. The package included a free 6-7 foot tree so this was a great deal for us as we enjoy older and historic hotels. From the reservation to check in the staff was flawless. We enjoyed our stay and the character this hotel exhibited. The free wi-fi was great as cell service is spotty in the mountains. The full breakfast was also a plus and was delicious. If you like hot sauce I highly recommend the chef's own blend! Our room was large and clean and the balcony was spacious. This place has so much charm! The only thing keeping it from 5 stars is that our shower temperature was inconsistent at best, hot then cold. Pressure was great but temperature was cyclic! If you are looking for new and modern this isn't it. But if you appreciate older buildings with tons of history and a welcoming, caring staff then give The Green Park Inn a shot if you are in the area!

Thank you for participating in our Cut & Stay Package. It is always fun to go to a tree farm to choose your own Christmas tree. I am happy you enjoyed the accommodations and free Wi-Fi. These mountains do make cell phone signals hard to come by. We apologize about the fluctuating temperature in the shower, and have since done some plumbing work to remedy that. We’d love to have you back to enjoy some more history and charm.

“Classic hotel with impressive staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

While on a 2500 mile road trip vacation we randomly stopped at this classic hotel/inn. The newly restored basic room was pleasant, clean, and comfortable. Free wifi and full breakfast added to our enjoyment.
The exceptional part of our experience was the recovery of a large amount of cash we accidentally dropped in the room. The housekeeper found it, brought it to the front desk, and had it counted in front of two other staff members. They then sealed it in an envelope, signed it and placed it in the safe. By early afternoon they made contact with me and agreed to mail me a check that day. It is refreshing to encounter such honest, responsible people.
If you are in the area we recommend a night at the Inn.

“The Laural Room Resturant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

Inside this beautiful Inn, is the best kept secret in all of Blowing Rock, and we are locals and have ate everywhere in the town and nothing compaires to the food that Chef James Welch will prepare for you inside The Laural Room go by and check him out you will NOT be sorry. My personal favorite is his HALIBUT... He is the Best Chef this side of the Mason Dixion Line.

“Excellent Old Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

We've been traveling to Boone/Blowing Rock for over 30 years, but had never stayed here. Sweet daughter, a historic properties buff, made reservations for all of us here for the ASU vs. Furman game. We just loved it. We stayed in the historic section, 3rd floor. Room was a little warm, possibly due to unseasonably warm weather for this area. We opened windows and put on the ceiling fan and it cooled down pretty quickly. Our bathroom (room 320) was huge for an older hotel. Shower was splendid with great water pressure (better than a "showermassage.") Our room faced Hwy. 321. Next time, we will ask for a back-side or side room so that we don't get any traffic noise (light sleepers). Bed linens and pillows were SUPERB!!

We had breakfast (included in the nightly rate) on Sunday. There were 4 choices of "hot breakfast": 2 eggs, bacon/sausage, toast/biscuits, your choice of drinks (OJ, Milk, Coffee), OR Homemade Waffle w same sides above, OR French Toast w same sides above, OR oatmeal/choice of cereal with fruit, yogurt and choice of beverages above.

We will definitely stay there again. I think we have thought in the past that this was a pricey hotel....just not true when you consider all the amenities such as the cooked to order hot breakfast. A beautiful place, rich in history and character, with very courteous staff. Thanks for a great stay!

Room Tip: If you're a light sleeper and want to stay in the "historic" section, ask for a backsi...

“Green Park Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012

The history of this Inn is remarkable. The staff was awesome. The rooms are nice, clean and comfortable. The common areas were very nice. The price was higher than I normally pay, but it was peak week for color.
