“Great Burgers!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

After a blustery day in the mountains, finding a warm and friendly tavern with delicious aromas wafting thru the dining room was one of those experiences that make the day! The special of the day was one of the best burgers I've ever had. Provolone, carmelized onion, bacon with aoli sauce on a very good bun. Add a local brew beverage and you have comfort food for the traveler. Service was attentive, prompt, professional. Check out the local artists' work which adds to the hometown atmosphere. Good value.

“Great bar with good food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

His is a great local hang out. They have a wide range of beers from local craft beers to your old standard favorites. The food is good & their burger is to die for. If you're in Black Mountain it should be on your lust!

“Cold day relief”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

Visited March 1, 2013 on a day that was gloomy and cold. It began to flurry so I ducked into the Trailhead for some lunch. Special that day was 'Shepherd's Pie. Super good and filling. Wait staff was attentive but not hovering. Good visit.

“Good but not my favorite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

We live close to Black Mountain and like to visit from time to time. We decided to try out Trailhead on a Saturday afternoon while walking around. We were promptly greeted and since it was after lunch we were seated right away. Waitress was very friendly. I had an IPA and my wife got a margarita since the waitress stated they were the best. It was an average margarita. I ordered a burger and the wife ordered the special(described as a type of BLT). Considering the time and the number of people in there it seemed like we waited an awful long time. The food came out and we both had a burger. Waitress apologized and stated it was the first special someone had ordered and offered to fix it. My wife just ate the burger. Burger was cook right, thick and juicy. We both enjoyed our meals. I would suggest if you're looking for pub food head down the street to Black Mountain Ale House.

“3.5 out of 5 ="Good"”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

Had dinner here on a Saturday night. We were seated quickly. We wanted a burger so we both got the Trail Blazer. It was a good burger, but left me with a little too much 'chargrilled' aftertaste. But it was decent enough at $9.25 (for a burger). I liked that they had beers from (the local) Pisgah Brewing Co on tap, the Blueberry Wheat was enjoyable!
