“Excellent with gluten free options”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2014

One of my daughters has celiac disease so when we travel eating out can be problematic. On a trip to Asheville we stopped in Black Mountain. We had read up on gluten free options before we left so we started out immediately looking for this restaurant. Be advised it is not readily seen from the main street if you are on foot. And it has sort of a relaxed, dug into the hillside, kitchen vibe that smelled wonderful.

It is very small, the staff is very friendly. We seated ourselves and ordered the cheese platter which was lovely. Then we ordered the gluten free pizzas (the Rosa and Napoli). Both were loaded with cheese and other condiments. Excellent pizza. You would not have know they were gluten free from the taste. The sweet tea is good too (which is important to a Southerner).

Two gluten free pizzas, a cheese platter (sans crostini), and three drinks were $50.

We will go again.

“Great wood fired pizza and calzones”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2014 via mobile

We love this place. We go several times a year. The owner and his wife are friendly and also are part owners of the black mtn biscuit company. Everything we have tried had been very good. Sometimes it takes a little while because the wood burning oven but it's worth the wait. The servers are all nice and are great. Sometimes it seems like they might be understaff and service is slow. But other than that it's great. There is nice a patio that dogs are allowed on. We like to place pick up orders too. Great dinner or lunch spot

“with or without char”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2014

Some of the best pizza you will ever have. Make sure to order with or without char as it really is cooked in a wood fire. We also had a baked pasta dish that was excellent. We always go here every time we are in the area. If you only eat at one place, this is it. Very casual. Great service.

“Outstanding”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2014

Just like the name, everything is made with fresh ingredients, salads and pizzas are off the grid a little but what a surprise when you taste their unusual combinations. Service very friendly and you can sit outside with your dog.

“Better than I ever imagined”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2014

Went on Friday Feb 14,2014, Had the Veggie Pizza with goat cheese. Outstanding-Lots of flavor. Daughter had the calzone--large enough for 2 servings. All the pizzas I observed looked very good. Will definitely go back again.
