The wife and I have stayed at the Black Mountain Inn several times. This last visit we stayed in the Beverly's room. We loved the feather bed toppers and flannel sheets as well as the antique future.. So cozy!! I don't think I can remember another breakfast that I have had that can compare. Healthy and delicious.. Downtown Black Mountain is a 2 min drive very charming and quaint. I highly recommend a week stay. Looking forward to my next trip there.

My wife and I spent five days and four nights and I wish we did not have to leave. What a great place. And to sleep with the windows open for clean mountain air is a treat. I love the history and the setting was perfect. The innkeeper was very accomodating and served a sumptuous breakfast each morning, I loved the homemade granola ( we tried with no luck to get the recipe).
We will be back next year, over and out from Scottsdale AZ - Peter

Room Tip: If you are tall try out the Emili room, it has a 6 foot claw tub!!!

Last week-end we were on a quest to see the turning of the leaves along the NC Mountains. Our journey included time with the boys in Asheville and an overnight stay with the folks at the Black Mountain Inn. What a nice little out of the way spot...Just on the outskirts of town you'll turn onto Old Hwy 70 into a residential area and start looking for their sign. It's not hard to spot but we missed it the first time as we were too busy looking for a street number. Up the slightly rutted gravel drive and the Inn is at the top of the hill slightly hidden from the road. Fallen leaves were all over which made it a little hard to tell where the sidewalk was...but who cares? We found our way to the front porch and once inside we were greeted immediately with a genuine "we're glad you're here" NC mountain welcome! We were guided up the well worn stairs, creaking as we went to our 2nd floor room. Our room was ample size with a private bath. The room was painted a light pink, with antiques and a solid wood country bed reminiscent of the early 1900's. No TV for those who need cable but there was a Wi-Fi signal to operate your laptops or IPads. The bath room had an old timey claw foot tub with the Sears & Roebuck round shower curtain. The toilet was on a stepped up platform which we found amusing for some reason? We now know why so many people call the toilet a throne....we loved it! Very comfortable room overall but it got a little hot the night we were there. Outside temps had dropped so the heat was turned up and it got a little toasty in our upstairs room(heat rises)...the staff had the bathroom window opened slightly to help regulate the temperature...which seemed to do the trick as the evening passed Sometime in the night the train goes by and you'll feel the rumble of the tracks as it passes by....It woke us up briefly but after another good night kiss we were back in deep sleep.
Next morning we were treated to fresh coffee and a nice breakfast consisting of Stuffed French Toast, juice, coffee, fresh sliced cooked apples/ fruit and Quinoa. We had the pleasure to visit with other guests from Charleston, SC, NY, West Virginia and Seattle Washington making the breakfast experience all the more enjoyable!
Overall it was a very nice experience. the staff is friendly and accommodating, the inn is rustic and worn but very well kept. The experience is that of an old Inn...like it was 50 years ago before people got so dang nit-picky about every little thing...Not upscale as some might like, but very affordable and a place that we will visit again!
We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

I have stayed at the Black Mountain Inn several times. It is an amazingly peaceful place to renew and revive your spirit. The rooms are furnished in keeping with the cozy atmosphere. The innkeeper was gracious and helpful. The breakfast was amazing with the variety of choices and thoughtful of people who may not like meat in the morning, or at all. I enjoyed learning the fantastic history of the house and thought it was fabulous to sleep where so much history has occurred. I loved no TV in the room, access to one is easy but not where I wanted to rest. The train was a lovely reminder of days gone by. All in all I highly recommend this delightful experience for those who understand what a country inn is and enjoy the experience of living in history. Bravo June for your keeping things simple and cozy. I will be back again and again!!!!

Room Tip: I love the Beverly Room. It is comfortable and quiet.

not worth the money!! room small, we could see the bed sank in the middle, it was small, short and very uncomfortable! Trains going by during night blowing whistles! One tiny bar of soap in bathroom, no place to put toiletries at pedestal sink. No hospitality! Breakfast was a small dish of baked French toast, granola, apples, coffee & juice. No one ever came to see if we (8 people) needed anything. Room only had one small chair, no tv, went into hall to try to play cards at a table, got too dark to see, only 40-50 watt bulb in the area. sitting area was dismal and dark downstairs We could not wait to leave and would never go back! we were very disappointed, this did not begin to live up to other B&B's we have stayed at!!! Annette's review was right on. There are not enough spaces allowed to write more. No dinners served here as Kathy wrote.

Room Tip: none, all rooms will hear the trains going by

This was my families second time staying at the inn and it was wonderful. The rooms are authentic looking and cozy. If you are over 6 feet tall you may find the beds a bit short, but we made due. The breakfasts were very tasty and the inn keeper is very accommodating. The area has so much to offer for everyone. We can't wait to return, wish we never had to leave.

We have stayed a several B&B's in the course of our marriage and this one by far was the worst. We checked in and was shown to our room on Friday. What a disappointment. It was a tiny, dull room with a bed. Two rickety end tables on either side. No chair to sit on, and we had to leave the room and sit at a table in the hall to put on our shoes. One bar of soap. When I asked the man who checked us in for ice, he came out of the kitchen with two water glasses of ice. no bucket. A tv was available if we wanted to sit in the sitting area downstairs which had two chairs and a small couch, very uncomfortable and uninviting. No area outside or even on the porch to read or relax.
I so agree with Anna L's review I could have cut and pasted it. Will not go again and do not recommend it. A waste of money really.
