My husband and I had a very memorable experience at Stillwater several years ago and decided to go back for our 3rd anniversary. It was delicious once again.
We were seated at a table for 2 by the window, giving us a beautiful view of the waterfront - and the dolphins playing just before sunset! The restaurant also offers a charming deck bar with seating outside - perfect for a starter cocktail or even your main meal. We had our 8 month old with us so we chose to sit inside. The staff cooed over our son and we felt comfortable having him there because we dined before the main dinner crowd arrived.
Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered cocktails - he had a reasonably priced beer (less than $4) but the mixed drinks were on the high side - my French 75 was $8.50.
We started with the calamari - a very nice appetizer though I prefer the sauce on the side instead of mixed in with the calamari. It came with a spicy side sauce but the calamari had already been tossed in a chili lime sauce. We highly recommend the Goat Cheese salad, though pricey at $12, it's perfect to split and worth the money.
We both chose a special for our main entree. He had a pork chop served with a lima bean concoction, corn pudding, and topped with crispy green beans - in the words of our waitress, it was one of the best chops we've ever had. I chose the scallion encrusted grouper served with mixed veggies and jasmine rice. It, too, was wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience and were too stuffed for dessert!
Though the prices at Stillwater can be a bit on the high side (grouper $34, chop $25; total bill w/2 drinks & tip $125), the service, atmosphere, and cuisine measured up on this special occasion. Stillwater, we will return!
