My wife and I stayed two nights last week at the Anchorage Bed and Breakfast in Beaufort. We had a wonderful time and would love to stay there again. The room we were in was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good. I liked the large bowls of Strawberries and the delicious coffee.

We had wireless internet access in our room and I used it to research local activities. The wireless network access was a little strange because we used the public library wireless network -- the public library is across the street from the B&B -- and not the Anchorage B&B wireless network. My Apple notebooks never picked up the Anchorage network.

The bed and breakfast was small and kept very clean. The innkeepers were very nice and were not overly nosey about what we wanted to do while on vacation, which I appreciated. The breakfast each morning was fantastic, especially the cinnamon muffins! Make sure to grab one if you can because they go fast.

We stayed in the Hemingway room which was very comfortable. They do not lie on the website; the bathroom is HUGE. I believe it was an office or something that was converted. Unfortunately, the tub is fairly small but there's plenty of walkable space in the bathroom itself.

The inn is also very convenient to everything in town. It's one block away from the Old Burying Ground and about two blocks away from the waterfront. The only time we moved our car was to go to Atlantic Beach, about 5 minutes away.

My fiance and I stayed at the Anchorage House for a weekend in July and thoroughly enjoyed it. We stayed in "The Statesman" room which is downstairs and probably their most basic room. Still, both the room and bathroom were quite spacious and immaculate, and the twin beds make a great king! We were also able to glimpse into the upstairs guest rooms, and they all looked unique and comfortable, with a few more luxury touches. This B&B is located right on Turner Street in Beaufort and surrounded by other historic homes. It's a very pleasant 2-block walk down to the waterfront, where you'll find many shops and restaurants. Of course, that's if you have room to eat after enjoying one of the innkeepers' delicious breakfasts! We ate like royalty - by far the best and heartiest breakfasts we've had at a B&B. Each morning they served something a little different - fresh fruit, blueberry pancakes, breakfast casserole, waffles, grits, sausage & gravy - all homemade! The evening wine & cheese is also a nice touch and a good way to meet other guests and chat with the innkeepers. The innkeepers are a very charming young married couple, both from Eastern NC, and are very knowledgeable if you want to know about area beaches, fishing, tourist sites, etc. I would highly recommend this gem to others!
