“Delightful Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Our recent choice for an overnight stay before catching the early ferry to Ocracoke might turn into a future weekend getaway location. Spotless motel with first class service (Robin) and a great bed. The continental breakfast offered several healthy choices along with the standard bagel and cream cheese. We don't have pets, but we'll return to this little "people"-friendly gem.

We had a very early ferry departure and needed a pet friendly room. We found both in the Core Creek Lodge. Our room was clean and Robin gave us excellent directions to the ferry that cut some time off of our drive. There was plenty of walking space available for our dogs to stretch their legs after being in the car all day. We were worried about noise because our smaller dog is a bit of a barker at strange noises, but she slept soundly through the night as did we. Would stay here again if in the area.

Thank you for the positive review! We're glad you found us and that we were able to assist you and your pets. Lots of folks enjoy taking the ferries to the outer banks and as a pet lover, I know it's made more special when your pets can go as well.

We're glad you found us convenient, quiet and friendly and you got a great night sleep prior to your adventure!

Please come again, and tell your friends about us.

Warmly,

Robin

We were happily surprised to find this non-presumptuous spotless hotel/lodge with a very friendly staff next door to our working project. Continental breakfast 4 days/week. Weekly rates available for extended stays. We will definitely return...

Room Tip: Vehicle needed for activities, restaurants and shopping -- Waterfront Beaufort about 11 or 12 miles...

Thank you for such a positive review! We enjoyed having you both stay with us as you continued your project at Bock Marina. Your suggestion for a vehicle to go to Beaufort 8 miles away would be nice. I know Bock Marina offers a shuttle service to folks with their boats stored there, and often drive these owners to our property. Perhaps one day we can accommodate guest that way.

We really enjoy having so many international guest discovering us, and appreciate you sharing with others about us.

We hope your trip back to France went well, and look forward to seeing you in the spring.

Warmly,

Robin

I can't wait for the rest of the buildings and rooms to catch up with how well renovated the community breakfast area is. The buildings are old and you can tell by looking, but everything from the rooms to the grounds are well kept. Shower was clean as well as the room when I showed up late in the evening. Rooms are small but they serve the purpose well enough for a couple days. All that this place is missing is a fridge in the rooms and a bit of modernizing. Even without the modernization that you see at other hotels this place is a good place to stay. I also loved the rural feel and pet friendliness of the place.

Thank you so much for selecting Core Creek Lodge for your stay. This site has been here for decades with the new owners coming on board 5 years ago. There have been so many renovations to the grounds and individual units, and they are still on going.

We love that you appreciated our gathering room. We have recently begun to utilize this area for Continental breakfasts for our over night guest Wed - Sat 7 am - 9 am.

Perhaps on your next visit you'll up grade your room to a plus room. This is a larger room that features coffee maker, mini refrigerator, microwave oven and a flat screen T.V. Most of our plus rooms also have a feature a tub and shower combination over just a shower.

Again, thank you for your stay. We hope you'll return............. the seafood festival is the first weekend in October, and that's an awesome time to be on the coast!

Happy and safe travels to you and yours,

Core Creek Lodge

The Core Creek Lodge is now our honey hole for fishing (don't tell anyone)! We (3 guys) rented a single room for the weekend and had a great time. The staff was extremely friendly, room was clean and location was perfect. For fisherman, you have a private boat ramp (the boat ramp is probably the only difficult aspect of Core Creek Lodge because there are a few bumps and holes you must avoid while putting-in/pulling-out, however, they did mention they were planning on repaving, which would be great!), and a brand new boat slip that is right off the ICW. It is about a 5 mile boat ride (15 mins) to get to the mouth of Adam's Creek.

Again, I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Thank you Will for the kind words. It was our pleasure to lodge you all and we're really glad you enjoyed the convenience of launching from here and the nice boat ride over to Taylor's Creek. Appears the fishing was good!

Hurry back, and don't worry............. we have plenty of room for fishermen, hunters, divers and just folks who enjoy coming to the coast. For me, we're approaching the best time of year to be here. The weather will be perfect, the crowds thinner, and there will be more places on the beach to call my own!

PS There was a northern wind yesterday and the fish were jumping in the boats! Hope you'll post your photo album to our CoreCreekLodge face book as well.

Thank you for staying with us! We hope to see you again real soon.

Happy fishing and safe travels,

Core Creek Lodge

My wife and I were in the same group as "1950traveler" and we had a completely different experience. We arrived very late and found the room to be clean and welcoming, and just as advertised. The bed was comfortable, the air conditioning worked fine, and the decor, while sparse, was pleasant and attractive. This is an older lodge in a secluded spot right on the river, with a small dock and a boat ramp, so it's a great place for those staying over for a fishing trip. But the owners have clearly put a lot of work into making it as comfortable as it is functional, and for the price and location outside of Beaufort it can't be beat. We had to check out well past the normal checkout time, and the maid (who did a fine job keeping our room clean) thought we were staying over so we were initially charged for an extra night. But one call to the office cleared that up, and they couldn't have been nicer or more professional about it.

The bottom line is that this is a great choice for those who want a clean, safe, comfortable 'base of operations' to spend a few days exploring the coast, but who don't want to pay for a lot of amenities they aren't going to use.

Please know it was such a pleasure for us to host the travel group you and your wife are members of. Everybody was so well organized and kind and it made our job feel like we were just having a group of friends over.

We truly appreciate that you and your wife recognize the work that has been put into this older lodge by the new owners and their continual desire to convert this lodge into an affordable and comfortable alternative to the pricier locations in town.

I like that you called us a home base. That's a great description, and really what we became for your group as you all spread out and went in so many different directions seeking to explore our location.

We hope to see you back and trust you'll continue to make the Outer Banks a vacation destination. We'd enjoy hosting you again.

Thank you for the understanding extended in the mix up about the third night charge!

Safe and happy travels to you always,

Core Creek Lodge

Core Creek Lodge off the Beaten Path and a great price, great folks. Great adventure!!!
Will be back!
We had a nice stay. We checked in early with no problem we had 42 members coming in at all hours through the night. Robin was great she make many phone calls to let our folks known where the keys were and go to our rooms. I gave in around 6:00 P.M, was greeted by staff, and checked in. I had the opportunity to visit my group 0-100 Hiking, Kayaking Group from Charlotte, NC
Richard and Robin were the best we chatted for a while about anything we asked before we went visiting in town. Richard, upgraded my room so we would have more space together for our large group.
Wow what a deal!!
The quiet was unusual but welcome for tired travelers.
In the morning we found welcome faces from Robin and guest at breakfast. Robin help us with the community area.
I think their typical pricing of around $50 is just right for this place. If you have an opportunity to visit this motel and are Not Spoiled....IT IS A GREAT VALUE!
If you want adventure and peaceful and quiet this is the place to go. I am looking forward to going back, it was so peaceful and closed to everything.
No, Core Creek is not the Beverley Hills Hotel, but they do not claim to be!!!

Thank you for such a kind review! Hosting your large group of travelers was a pleasure for us! We enjoyed meeting everyone and seeing them get excited about the different events they wanted to accomplish while here.

We're glad you enjoyed the efficiency apartment and that it helped in bringing your group together when you were not in the gathering room having your continental breakfast. Perhaps next year you'll consider the 2 bedroom apartment I showed you.

The highest compliment your group could share with us was deciding to re-book with us next year. We have a lot of loyal groups like this, divers, hunters, fishermen etc. that enjoy our quiet, rural sitting and easy 8 mile drive to downtown Beaufort. We would love to have you return anytime. Perhaps next year our fire pit will be in place, and our on going marina fully completed (we laid sod yesterday!). Since 2009 it's been a labor of love for the Collette's to turn this place around.

Your group is very lucky to have an enthusiastic group leader like yourself! I'm sure you guys always have a blast and see some wonderful places and participate in some great adventures. How fun that must be. It's wonderful that a large group of professionals can get together and throw off the worries of their hectic and stressful lives and come to a relaxed, laid back, quaint little place like Core Creek Lodge and have a good time.

Again, thank you all for staying with us over Labor Day weekend. We enjoyed your visit very much and hope to see you again.

warmly,

Core Creek Lodge
